The prize money or purse is determined by a contract. This contract is agreed and signed before the match even happens. You'll find that more popular fighters get paid more--even if they lose. The popular fighters are a better draw.

Let's say that fighter X fights for 10,000,000 dollars. He's got to pay his manager, trainer, cut man...and whoever else has their hand in the cookie jar.

Depends on who the fighters are. Right now it's not as high as it used to be when Tyson and Holyfield and Lewis were at the height of their careers. They got more than $20,000,000 or more per fight. It's about percentage of the ppv profits plus the guaranteed pay. That's mostly how you determine the prize money plus also negotiating.

its determined on how much we as fans are willing to pay for tickets or pay per view, :example: Gatti makes millions because we love his style and his fights, win or lose, now you get a boring fighter even if he is a heavyweight Like Kirk Johnson and he is luckey to get 50 grand..........
