How many of you remain friends with your ex?, if it is left on a bad note of mainly the past year being fighting should you try to remain friends?, I know what I have done, I can never remain friends.

Well it really comes down to whether or not YOU really want to remain friends. The question can't be answered generally cause every situation is different.

Do you think that you and this person can still hang out together and have fun together without being romantic and without fighting?

Do you think that you two can still support each other in your aspirations and interests?

Do you think that if you had a problem this person would really be there for you? And really listen?

And one important thing, do you think that you could really handle seeing them with another person and could they handle seeing you with another person?

Like I said it's kind of a hard question because every situation is different, but my guess would be if you're having doubts about whether or not you should remain friends then the answer is probably no.

I couldn't remain friends. I rather move on with my life and completely forget the person. Why stay friends if it didn't work out and wasted all that time in a 6 year relationship that ended sour. Nope I think you should move forward and forget your ex!

You are very true. I couldn't remain friend my ex as well, it's hard.
Besides, It's better to let go then to keep on holding onto your past. That way, u'll never be able to move on.

Sometimes it is easier to just let it go. It can be really painful when the other person moves on. You think you can handle it, until it happens. On the other hand if you think you are the type that can handle it, then why not give it a try...

Conventional wisdom says just let it go. But after years have passed, I have become friendly with a few women that I once was in a long relationship.

Let them go. Normally there is too much baggage to remain friends.

Let it go. If you stay friends you will never get him out of your head and it will be harder to move on and find someone new.
