Salvation is a Gift of Pardon. Sanctification is the transformation produced by the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. As we submit to His leading, and obey what we are shown, His Life produces changes in us that enable us to become a living part of the Body of Christ. If we ignore Him, and live the way we want, then we never grow to experience this Reality.

Once saved always saved. God is able to keep that which has been comitted to Him. Paul struggled with sin too and he was an apostle. check out Romans chap. 7:14-25
Furthermore when we accept Christ as our savior, although a change takes place it is not a total or complete change. Consider Phillipians 1:6 in Paul's introduction to his letter he says that he is confident that Christ is able to complete the good work that He has begun in you.
Paul doesnt say that it is a work that is finished, only begun, and so we can conclude that yes there should be a change, but we should not expect a change that would put us on a maturity level as one who has been trusting in Christ for many years.

That depends on your interpretation of belief. If you truely belive then yes you have been saved. Thats not just acknowleding the fact that he exisited but the fact that he died for your sins.
If thats true then you are half way there.
We are only human and will no doubt give into "sinful pleasures". I smoke too and I know its bad for me, and you cant help see what you see on TV these days, and have a thought that some person is hot. But if you understand that it is not right, and ask for help, guidance and forgiveness, then you will be forgiven. But this is based on the fact that you are still following step 1. This is why it is always good to pray when you have some down time, continue to be active in church, and learn all you can.

1 John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of hte Son of God.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: Not of works, least any man should boast.
If you do not cling to a new life in Christ you will cling to your old one. Also salvation is first and sanctification is next. The heart change occurs but not always our fleshly desires. We need to mortify the flesh daily as Paul tells us. If you know you are saved than you are. You cannot loose eternal life. God knows our language----He would have choosen another word. When you get saved it is like having a new pair of shoes. If you don't clean up by reading the Word and praying the shoes will get dirty and worn. But the shoes are still shoes and nothing will change that. I have known many Christians who doubted themselves because of sin. That is a lie the devil wants you to believe.

No. There are things about us that are imperfect this is why Jesus had to die for our sins. The mear fact that it bothers you is a sign that you are moving in the right direction . The Lord knows your heart, just keep praying , keep an open line of communication between you and God. don't expect unreasonable change from yourself he doesn't. It takes time. We are all learning through our whole lives, ask your pastor, he'll tell you he struggles with daily things himself if he says he doesn't hes lying. Your works are what the Lord judges on, so do what you can to spread the word and love your neighbor.

God judges sin according to the seriousness and according to our intent.
No matter whether you think you're saved or not, you still must tell God you're sorry for your sins (and mean it) and make a good faith effort to mend your ways, even if it turns out you're not immediately successful.
If you do this, the odds are that everything will work out OK in the end, no matter what denomination you belong to.

If you have truly repented, you are saved. From what you say here, it sounds like you have indeed repented, and are merely struggling to kill off the old man. Take heart! That struggle may last a lifetime, but that's only the beginning!

Ok...when you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior...you make a commitment to him to be the best person that you can be (to glorify his name). He makes a commitment to you, to help you when you can't do it all by yourself (because he knows that we are human and will mess up now and then). Being "saved" does not mean that it is over and done with.....it means that you are beginning a new way of life and promising to be the best that you can be....while repenting along the way when you have to. The bible tells us that faith without works is dead. So work like it is all up to you and believe like it is all up to Him.

Sins have to be real sins.
Jesus is not a GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD.
Thinking about adultery is not commiting it.
Talking bad about someone, well, you should try not to be judgemental.
Smoking, addictions die hard, usually with the person.
No smoker should ask God why, they know why!

You go to the Baptist Church don't you? J/K. I do not believed once saved always saved. Saved is past tense to me. Only after judgment will I know who was saved. Just my belief. People believe how they believe. We are all trying to get to the same place.
