um because that is what they do!(:-o)
Armageddon is the war that is started by Almighty God, not by some conflict in the Middle East, nor by rampant pollution.
What is Armageddon, as far as the Bible?
Rev. 16:14, 16: “They are, in fact, expressions inspired by demons and perform signs, and they go forth to the kings of the entire inhabited earth, to gather them together to the war of the great day of God the Almighty. And they gathered them together to the place that is called in Hebrew Har–Magedon or Armageddon”

They want armageddon to take place, because they want to get Jesus to return (rapture). Any excuse will do, such as having a Christian President authorize the invasion of Iraq, and Rev. Pat Robertson saying he wanted another President murdered (Chavez). So, one way or another, they are trying to bring on armageddon because they think it will trigger the second coming of Jesus.
In the meantime, the world is falling apart and they don't seem the slightest bit concerned because they think they will be taken away to safety. I can't wait to see how they react when the world turns against them for not being responsible and pro-active and for encouraging destruction and making life miserable for billions of people around the world -- when Jesus does NOT rescue them and they are left here with the rest of us !!

I dont know who your talking about as for zealots.... however.... i do hear alot of atheists and agnostics bringing it up... as in "oh here we go the christians will be talking end of the world again".... a true Christian that has studied the word dosnt have to wonder.... the scriptures show plainly the things that will be going on in those days.... all you have to do is pick it up and study it. When i say we dont have to wonder dosnt mean we know when the end will be... only the Father knows the day and time..... but we do have guidelines in the scriptures as to things that will lead up to that time..... and its not just one event in the middle east.... there will be many events around the world. I urge you to take a look :)
God bless you will be keeping you in prayer here

Conditioning. I was listening to a co-worker (Roman-Catholic) on a rant about internet porn yesterday (she and hubby just split) but when someone mentioned Israel and nuclear weapons as being of more concern, she said, "Oh, well, Armageddon, what do you expect?" like it was nothing! but internet porn has her knickers in a twist. How does one get blase` about the end of the world? (No kidding, this conversation really took place.)
Armagedon is expected, unexciting, and acceptable, as long as it meets popular criteria, apparently. Global warming and pollution have no place. Or porn. You tree hugger, you.

almost all of the planet's oil supply is in the middle east and the least small thing can trigger a major war there. I guess people associate the armageddon thing with a major war in that region.

Global warming, pollution, intestinal gas in the Middle East as long as there is pestilence and mass destruction and Jesus comes back and takes care of business.
Then believers can worship Jesus for eternity. I rank that right up there with championship badmitton.

Their difinition of Armageddon is only people killing one another.. they are not smart enough to see there could be other possible causes like a meteor strike or like you said global warming.. because in the bible it's only stated that someone (GOD) will destroy the huminity not someTHING..
All the religions related zealots are still living in 1st Century..

Far easier to hope for and look towards the end of the world than try to fix the problems (both political and technological) that humanity has caused itself.
