I have an almost 8 year old cat, and tonight when I changed his kitty litter, I found some bloody poop..I am calling the Vet in the morning, but thought that someone out there may have ideas as to what it could be...My 2yo would be devestated if he woke and his kitty was dead...I am hoping that it isn't something that serious...NO other health issues, and he's an indoor cat.
Thanks!

Calling the vet is the best answer, but I have had some cats that pooped a little blood and it was from straining. Sometimes passing a hairball will cause irritation. They also have anal glands that express from time to time and if one is infected this could also be from that. Always a good idea to have it checked though. Better safe than sorry.

Good luck

worms usually - even if he is indoors only - if he catches mice inside he could have worms from them

glad you are calling the vet - you never know really as there are lots of other things it could be too.. make sure you take a fresh stool sample with you to the vet (I am sure the vet will ask you to do this) if you collect one now - put it in the fridge - ya ya YUCK but seriously its best thing to do...

I once had that experience and it turned out it was a red bead that my cat had swallowed then pooped out. An expensive mistake. Take the poop with you to the vet. Gross I know, but get a ziploc baggy and bring it with you.
If your cat is not having any other symptoms, he probably won't die in the night.

dont panick sometimes it just a form of worms and can be fixed easily. sometimes these worms are hard to get rid of and they get them from fleas make sure to bring a stool sample with you to the vet and good luck

A TRIP TO VET IS ORDER. IT COULD BE WORMS. THE CAT MAKE HAVE GOTTEN HOLD OF BONE (THE CAN SPLINTER AND BECOME VERY SHARP) OR SWALLOWED SOME OTHER SHARP OBJECT. ALSO I HATE TO WORRY YOU BUT IT COULD BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM, SUCH AS, CANCER. I HOPE YOUR KITTY GETS BETTER. I KNOW I GO TO PIECES WHEN ONE OF MY BABIES GETS SICK.
