A lot of women feel like they have to be equal to another woman in order not to cause strife. Still, more women, when they meet another woman, feel like they have to be in competition about SOMETHING about her: weight, hair, clothes, makeup, boyfriends, etc. It's silly, but it's so true. Personally, I don't care enough about you to dislike you after 30 seconds. I mean...?? Really now.

I think that women are rude and catty because of the conception that this is a man's world. Women not only have to fight men for whatever status, but they have to fight other women striving to attain the same goal. Men have goal oriented and one track minds. They see a problem and execute, and if they fail most can pick up and go to the next goal. However, women are innately emotional beings with deep thoughts and feelings that allow them to multi-task, but unfortunately hold grudges. The truth is that women fight women, because being a woman fighting to fit in a "man's world" means limited space for women on top.

I think that women are catty and rude because they are unsure of themselves a lot of the time and talking badly about somebody else somehow makes them feel better about themselves. The other thing that I know about women is that they HAVE to talk about things that are bugging them to be able to DEAL with those issues in their lives.

You know, I have always been proud I was a girl, but I never liked how girls/women acted. When I was in school I always hung around the guys and got along with them so much more than girls. Guys don't care about who likes who or what they are going to wear the next day or who said what about who. I had female friends and got along with them, but when it came to the back stabbing I was out of there. AND all the teenage girl giggles over nothing, was just right out immature. Another thing, you never had to worry about the guys PMSing at the same time, so it wasn't a bunch girls sitting around aggravated at the world.

I wish I knew the answer to that. Culture prevents some women in being direct like alot of men are. So they resort to being mean and petty and rude and catty.I like direct people...I work with some older women (in their 50's) and they are awful to msyelf (40's) and all the younger women (20's) it is hard to ignore but that is the way I handle it. I go home and ***** them out to my fiance!

Women are rude and catty because they are jealous. Not neccessarily of how you look, but of what you have or what you do. People, especially women, are in such competition that when they notice something better, like your car, job, boyfriend, house, hair, body, they feel very intimidated that you may be better than them somehow. In reality, life is what you make it.

i dont know. im not like that myself but i have come across many women who are rude and catty. i think it may be because they are jealous, or envious. some women think it is a competition between eachother.

I've never understood that either. You would think being women we would stick together but we don't. That's okay, I don't like being around them anyway because they are so catty.

It is equally applicable to men also. It is basically a problem of Human behaviour. It depends on the persons concerned, the timing or period and the place where thay are interacting. These three 'P' called place, period and person are the basic determinant factors of human (person) behaviour because, they (persons) are precisely the product of time (period) and space (place).
