You can be vegetarian and be healthy. However, if you do it and still eat like a meat-eater, only without the meat, you probably will not get the nutrients you need.
If you know any vegetarians, ask them for help. Check out a vegetarian cookbook at the library. Call your local health food or organic food stores, and ask if they have any information or resources for people who want to become vegetarian. Those tend to be the best places to get information, so that if you have questions or need help, you can call somebody in your area, and just ask.

You can become vegetarian at any age. If you eat some dairy foods, you don't have to worry about protein and vitamin B12, but if you don't eat any animal products, a B12 supplement is a good idea. Soy products such as tofu, tempeh, and soy milk are good protein sources if you choose not to eat dairy. Most vegetarians get all the protein they need - dal (beans/lentils) is a good source, too, as is rice and whole grains.
You will be much healthier without meat in your diet. Nobody needs meat; it is just a bad habit. But don't cut out everything at once - use dairy for at least a short time to help your body adjust to the change. Soon your arteries will begin to clean out and your heart will be stronger, and you will never want to eat meat again.

If you eat vegetables only you will get an good amount of vitamins and essentials, however you wont get alot of proteins wich are found in meat but there is one trick that you can do. You can convert to vegetarion and eat nothing but vegetables, and you dont even need to eat eggs, then you can have tofu. Tofu is a cheeselike food that is made from the soybean plant with a jelly like texture. It also has TONS of protien so vegans dont need to worry about that because many of them eat tofu as a great substitute for meat. Tofu is lo fat, and it would be healthy to cut down meat in your diet due to fat problems, etc. You can also find Tofu at most grocery stores, there are several kinds. Firm tofu is used for vegetable stirfry. Silken is used for delicious soy smoothies. Im sure it will work for you good luck!

We are born vegetarian and eat vegetarian until about age two when parents begin to introduce meat. So see, it isn't a problem.
You can get your nutrients from veggies if you balance them.
A variety of beans can provide all the protein you need. Be careful not to get too much protein from substitutes, that can create an amino acid excess.
A nice variety of fruit and veggies will be more than adequate.
Also, I have started using Smart Balance in place of the margarine I used before. Next time you are at the supermarket, read the label on a container of it.
Enjoy

You wont get the same proteins as meat has but if you become a full vegeterian you my need to take some time of proteins pills or get proteins from some other food.
PS ; you should really ask your doctor if your body is okay to do that.

You mean, those who are vegetarians, are not healthy, are not getting essential neutrients/ Proteins?? Vegetarian persons are more healthier than Non-vegetarians. All essentials are available in vegetarian food, requirted for a healthy person. It is scientifically proved that Vegetarians live more healthy and Long Life than Non-vegetarians. Nothing would happen to you if you switch over to a healthy vegetarian food. You will feel much better than ever before.

Both my parents are vegan. They've been vegetarians since they were about 30 and vegans for about 6 years now. And they are probably the healthiest people I know. My dad does take at least one multi-vitamin everyday, and i think he may take some other vitamins. If you eat all your veggies and have soy and what not, you can get all of your nutrients fine.
Good luck!!

haha... no one is BORN a vegetarian unless you parents specifically raise you to not eat meat.
as a vegetarian, you dont have to give up eggs or dairy products...you just have to give up meat (and yes, that includes fish and seafood). there are plenty of protein options other than eggs and dairy....your best bet is soy and soy products. you should go out and get a good vegetarian cookbook.
