Grand central is on 42nd st and Park Ave, Penn Station is 34th St and 7th Ave. So it's 8 streets down, and 5 avenues over (Park - Madison - 5th - 6th - Broadway - 7th). Streets takes about a minute each to walk (average New Yorker walking speed), and to go across the avenues takes about 10-15 minutes (depends on how fast you talk). So it takes at least 20 minutes if you walk fast and time your lights perfectly, or 30 minutes if you want to be safe with your timing. You may also want to consider taxi (timing could vary depends time of day and traffic) or subway (but a big pain since you need to switch at Times Square).

20 minutes. if you are doing that walk anytime between 4:00pm and 6:00 pm, add another 5 minutes to your walktime.

i recommend zig zagging through the blocks. Definitely do not walk south on park ave all the way to 34th street and try to cross town on 34th street (way too much slow foot traffic). i would walk over to 42nd and 6th ave, then walk south to 35th street. then walk across to 7th avenue and south to 32nd street where the main entrance is.

That depends on how fast you walk and what time of day it is, as sometimes the sidewalks are so crowded you can't move very fast. I'd guess 15-20 minutes except at rush hour if you walk pretty fast.
