I'm a Christian. I must not have gotten the memo about dismissing evolution.
Try not to make hasty generalizations about Christians or anyone else - you're missing a great wealth of diversity of thought when you do.

Because they have been told by the Church for so long to do just that. Why doesn't the Church simply say that God create evolution?? I mean God created a very orderly world and it's truly an amazing creation. Evolution is no different than any other scientific thing we study. God made it all. Why is evolution such a big hairy deal. Even Darwin is misunderstood regarding our supposed evolution from apes. And there is still no fossil evidence linking Lucy with Cro-Magnon Man. And we know that Neandertals coexisted with Cro-Magnons until the Cro-Magnons wiped them out.
The complexities of this world have so far defied some scientific and religious explanation and presumably will for a very long time.

I do not dismiss evolution. Moving your question from biology to physics for a bit, Time depends on your velocity and the gravity affecting you. that means that if there is some other planet with humans out there in a far away Galaxy, they a full lifetime for them that to them feels as long and complete as ours could take place in the blink of our eyes. this relates to why i dont dismiss evolution, because since God is working above the laws of physics, time doesn't affect God, meaning that even though us humans who think that evolution took such a long time, thousands and thousands of years, to God, that amount of time would have been just the blink of an eye. So i feel that evolution fits in well with creationism.

You've lumped an awful lot of people together in one statement. Not all Christians dismiss evolution. The concept isn't as black and white, clear cut as you've stated it. God is capable of anything. Besides, evolution says we climbed out of the primortial ooze (mud). Not all that different from dust.

Hey, this is a good one.
And every living thing came from the dust of the ground. True, we did come from dust (the Earth) who is our mother.
I don't believe in the creation week story. Even according to the Bible, God's days are measured different than our own.
There is scriptures that say His days are liken to 10,000 to 100,000,000 years to 1 of our days.
So in reality, it probably did take the earth 100,000,000 years from it's creation date to evolve to what we have today.
So maybe both are true. The Divine made the big bang, and all the elements & planets evolved & formed themselves from there, taking millions of years to develope.

A lot of Christians are fine with the idea that things evolve. Scientists still have not figured out a way to take small little organisms from the sea and turn them into a human. They have figured that it would take far longer for that to happen than what most evolutionists are saying. Many scientists are now saying that it is impossible. I believe that creatures evolve and change and "adapt" to new climate changes and environmental changes. Do I believe that we crawled out of the the sea? Nope. We are too complex for that to have happened. I'm still going with my faith, because that still seems more plausible than us "evolving" from what looks like a mud skipper. :) Peace!

Because the Bible, the Book from which we live, tells us that man came from dust. If the Bible told us that we evolved, we would all believe that we evolved, but it doesn't, it says we came from dust so we believe it. We are not against evolution, the Bible is against evolution, we just follow the Bible.

Because they do not know how to do science. Even the Vatican has now got this one right, which, after the Galileo fiasco, is little short of amazing.
Postscript: I am more than a little tired of the ignorants who claim that evolution is just a theory, and creationism is just a theory, and one can plausibly choose which to believe. There is a crucial difference: evolution is a SCIENTIFIC theory, meaning that it is refutable, and thus can make predictions. It is, furthermore, established science, meaning that workers in the field use it to make predictions which they rely on because they are correct. By contrast, creationism is NOT a scientific theory: it is in principle irrefutable, hence can predict nothing and is thus totally useless. (Even though it could be correct!)

Because they fail to learn the facts about evolution and accept claims made by their religious leaders on what evolution is. See above, "Do you really believe we came from monkeys?"
