Yes, orange juice is good for you. It contains many vitamins such as C and A and it is also a good source of fiber if you get the kind with pulp in it. Be careful to not drink too much because it contains a lot of ascorbic acid and that can hurt your stomach and cause discomfort. Try to get a pure orange juice without added preservatives or sugars. Remember, everything in moderation!!

If you have symptoms of GERD or acid reflux, stay completely away from orange juice and other citrus.
As for having lots of Vitamin C, other less acidic foods can substitute and a vitamin subsitute will also.
I don't recommend orange juice to anyone. And you're right, the large amount of sugar just simply isn't good for you.
I do use it to cook with - mix about 1/4 cup of orange juice, 2 TBs of honey, 1/4 soy sauce - pour over pork chops and cook in baking bag in oven. Yummy

Orange juice is like every other food, pretty much. It is very, very good for you -- in moderation.

Buy juice that has no added sugar, if you're concerned about sugar, but if it's only juice, then the sugar in there is the natural sugar that's in oranges. It's perfectly healthy and good for you, in moderation, with a good diet and a wide variety of foods.

I've heard that in terms of nutrition, eating a fresh orange is better than drinking the same weight of juice - the orange contains more fiber and vitamins (especially in the white not-so-tasty parts).

I've also heard that if you're just thirsty and trying to hydrate yourself (as opposed to trying to restore your electrolytes after a workout or something), then drinking water is better than drinking juice. Definitely don't drink juice just before or during a workout (can upset your stomach): drink water (or gatorade, just before the workout).

I remember also reading that drinking too much juice makes kids fat.

On the other hand, I suspect it is better than not having any fruit in your diet at all. And some juices are fortified with things like calcium.

Yeah, it's good for you if you juice the oranges yourself....Or at least buy organic/pure OJ....buy the kind that you can see the natural seperation in the bottle.

Most OJ is has been overly processed and the nutrients and active enzimes have been killed off...so in turn you getting mostly sugar which will add lots of empty calories to your diet....not good especially if you want to lose a few.

Depends if you're drinking orange juice or an imitation like sunny d, the latter is still good for you in respect to its content of vitamin c (ascorbic acid). However the real stuff has more vitamins that you imitate with just flavors and sugar especially with pulp.
