Yes it is, but I think it might depend on the religion itself. I believe in my own religion very strongly, but I would never try to convert anyone. If someone comes to me and asked about my beliefs, I share it with them. However, I refuse to get into an argument with my husband's Christian family. They are anti-anything that isn't their church. They even put down other church's that are also Christian, but not of the same faith they are.
I enjoy talking to others about their religion and how they view God. I am not afraid of seeking knowledge. I would never change my religion, but learning the ways and reasons behind a different religion is a good thing. However, there are some people that want to talk to you about their religion and not listen to you about yours. They have no ears, only a mouth. I have often wondered why their religion doesn't even allow them personal choice or free will to even listen and gain knowledge from another person and they are to condemn, criticize and rebuke in the name of their Lord on the spot. They will say Satan has led you astray and they are trying to save your soul. They are only pushing people away. I believe if some religions would stop this practice and start talking to others and exchange information, without denouncing and threatening them with Hell, maybe they would actually get more converts.
My husband and I very recently talked to a Muslim man. We asked him about his religion and a few things we heard about it. This man was very polite and answered all of our questions. I learned a few things that day from him. I found out the Koran and the Bible have very similar stories. I never knew that. See I learned something by being tolerant and respectful of his religion. This world would be a better place if we would all stop fighting this religious war among faiths and learn from one another and learn to live in peace with one another and stop pushing what we believe onto others.
As for your last question: Why don't people just talk about what they really know? They do. If they are taught to be tolerant of others in their faith they would be. Most of these basher people are taught to "go after these sinners and give it all you got", so they do. They say their faith requires it. Well, mine doesn't and I don't appreciate it.

Just don't be judge mental about other people. Your beliefs should be first for you, but, don't expect others to agree with you, that's not realistic. I think peoples beliefs are based on what they know & where they're from. Also, life experiences play a large roll in what they believe. A lot of the time comments are made to make that individual feel superior, only you know what is right for you.

If all religions teach people to be good, honest, generous and love one another, don't you think that all religion should just get together and get along with each other and help make the world a better and happier place to live in instead of fighting over each other constantly? That why I think organised religion is stupid. I believe in God though.

Kindles are frightening by using fact it form of feels to me that e book covers are artwork. This noticeably has been actual interior the previous century. for sure, artwork is a lot extra suited whilst that's tangible. could you somewhat have a digital image of the Mona Lisa, or a fifteen greenback print? despite the fact that neither are the actual factor, i individually could have the print. yet another factor: A Kindle with 4 hundred books would not look as magnificent as some bookcases with 4 hundred books.

Its always about putting the other person's religion down, rather than spreading knowledge.
If you peruse the past postings, you will find the Muslim contingent tends to be the most respectful.
I'd like to see a respectful posting board, but I guess some don't feel good about their faith to believe it can stand on its own...

Actually, most religion in the world are not in any way anti-other religions. The three abrahimic (or book) religions, judaism, christianity and islam are "big T" truths. "We know the truth and everyone else is wrong, wrong, wrong". Every other religion in the world is "small t" truth. "This is our truth, it may not be your truth, be free to go and find your truth".
I don't understand what those three religions are afraid of that they can tolerate no other opinions to exist, not even each others.

That would be a wonderful thing, wouldn't it? If people could find their peace in their religion without dragging their egos in with them, then there would not be people calling for the deaths of people in other places and saying it was "god's will".

In matters where proof is impossible, people often settle for negative advertisement. Supporters of Bush don't care if you like him...just as long as you hate Kerry...and vice versa. That's because they can't /prove/ their candidate is better. It's unfortunate, but it is the way of many, many people with regard to politics, religion, the best way to cast your fishing line, etc.

It is possible to argue for your religion without bashing another. You have to respect other religions and be knowledgeable about the other religions so you can make good arguments in favor of your religion.

My religion (Christianity) commands that I be anti-other religions. My faith and beliefs state that Jesus is the only way to the Father, who is the only True God. Therefore, to be unopposed to another religion would be idolatry to my God. I will not do that.
On another hand, I avoid the questions that make me angry, because I know that it is not giving glory to God by engaging in the many fights that people try to instigate on this website. Only if I think it could make a difference, or only if I believe the sincerity of the question do I tend to answer religion questions. I find the pregnancy and parenting and the Pets sections to be more "safe".
