Ifeata, the ancient egyptians didn't believe in 1 god, they believed in many goddesses and gods.

That is exactly what their religion teaches them. That they will go somewhere after they die. It is a comfortable way to approach religion. Get the people to believe that they will live on in the kingdom with no worries, no bills, no fat problems, no health problems, no nothing problems and they will follow you anywhere. The biggest problem is they are more willing to Believe than Think for Themselves.
I personally believe that I will go "somewhere", I just hope I can get answers to all my questions and find out what is way out there in the universe. We have reality now in our lives and I believe we will have reality when we die. We are not going on some picnic so stop dreaming.

I don't think it's has to do so much with having somewhere to go when you die as it has to do with the message that you WON'T die. I've sat and considered the driving forces behind why someone would be Christian(or Muslim, etc) many times. And have come to the same conclusion that many have. That the fear of death is a powerful thing.

The fear of death was great enough for the ancient Egyptians that they would allow themselves to be buried alive with their masters or husbands, just to avoid dying. Powerful enough to convince someone to willingly be buried alive. That's power.

actually I thought the egyptian afterlife consisted of HADES which was the equivalent of HELL which is the kind of afterlife christians are trying to avoid...am I wrong on that?
\
but yeah alot of people want to go to heaven, and a desire for a more pleasant afterlife motivates ALOT of different people to try to do "right" in this life...doesnt this same theory apply to MOST religions? Bad karma = bad afterlife etc.

yeah well I'm not sure what you want to know about it. Seems more like you want some kind of personal validation from this...so...

Oh yeah! clap clap ! You are a good girl and a genius. yay!

Hey...a christian is going to rot in the ground just like you. They are not "GOING" anywhere anytime soon. They will not be judge and granted or denied a heaven request until Jesus Christ come down from the sky to judge the living and the dead...in the meanwhile their spirit will remain dormant.

All Christians are still sinners & when they die, they go to a detention facility called Purgatory (similar to Guantanamo Bay's Camp Delta) where they have to undergo many tests & trials to purify their souls before they are issued visas to enter Heaven's door.

The real question is: Are the Christians right?

Unfortunately, that isn't a question that is opinion oriented. They either are or they aren't. Opinion doesn't matter.

I can say I want to go to the Kingdom of heaven.
I want to be with my family and friends that are gone ahead of me.
And I hope to with others I have yet to meet.
See ya

Q. If we go to heaven when we die - do we have to share it with Christians ;-)

isnt it ironic that other societies seem to have some similarities to christianity. it shows god works in all people.

there is a built in 'knowing' that we go somewhere when we die, no matter what we choose to believe, we know we are an eternal spirit.
