Crate it and take it out every hour or so...then after it has gone potty outside....you can let it play a little while...then back into the crate. By crate I mean portable kennel.

NOTHING BEATS THE CRATE FOR TRAINING ONLY LET HIM OUT WHEN YOU CAN KEEP AN EYE ON HIM....HE WILL GET THE IDEA...AND IF YOU CATCH HIM DONT HIT HIM JUST USE THE WORD THAT MEANS NO TO HIM AND PICK UP AND GO OUTSIDE WITH HIM...NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS ( I HAVE THREE DOGS)) THE CRATE IS THE BEST TRAINING AID AND AFTERWARDS THEY GO IN TO SLEEP AND FEEL SAFE. IT WORKS SO WELL BECAUSE PUPPIES AND DOGS LIKE CLEAN AREAS AND WONT GO INSIDE THE CRATE UNLESS NEGLECTED TOO LONG....THERE IS A SEPARATOR SCREEN TO MAKE AN AREA FOR HIM WHEN JUST A PUP...TRY IT IT SAVES ALOT OF MESS AND ODOR

This might sound crazy to everybody but this works, we had a puppy and we made a section of our backyard (just a small square) into his own en-suite, every time we took him out he went there, even when we ask him to go pee or poop he goes right out into the same spot now that the smell is there, now when he goes pee and turns to come back into the house I tell him to go finish what he started and he goes back into his en-suite and poops. Friends of ours get a big laugh at the way he obeys.

first there needs to be more info.. how long do you wait before taking the dog outside? does he/she keep peeing in the same spot.. try taking the dog outside every 45 min or so. use pet oder remover to remove the smell of the urine from the place he/she is peeing at.. they are like babies.. they have to go all the time.. so you have to take them out to let them know this is where they pee. also take the dog outside 30 min after they eat or drink.. hope that helps

Take it outside every two hours, when it first wakes up and after it eats. All of this will help. Until they are about 14 weeks old they can't hold their bladder for very long. It takes training on your part as well as the puppy. Good luck.

I am trying to potty train as well, from what I heard take the puppy out every hour, especially when it eats and drinks. When you are not at home get the puppy potty pads and put them all over the floor in a room with it. eventually it will only go on one pad everytime so, every week take one of them away and then they will only go one the one pad. Good luck

Stay with them outside as long as it takes for them to go, when they do pile on the praise. Keep doing that until they figure it out. Dont hit the, it won't work. Also clean clean clean. To remove the odor so the puppy does not go back to the same spot.

In response to some of the answers....Do not use paper or potty pads for training. Unless your goal is to teach your dog to go in the house, these will just confuse him.

get a pee pad. put it in a place where there is no carpet. spray it with training spray. let it pee there first. it had to know to pee on its peepad. then take the pee pad outside. and slowly he will learn to pee outside. memorize his pee times and take him out frequently. when he pees in the house firmly say "NO" but dont yell or hit. u just need to take him out alot and when he pees outside praise him. dont keep him in the house too long...eventually he will learn to hold his pee.
