I actually love India. Been there 3 times in the past 6 months for work. The poverty is very sad, but it is also a country that is up and coming. The foreign investments there from the US and Europe are causing tremendous growth, however the biggest hurdle to economic growth in the region is their lack of infrastructure - their roads and freeways are bad and so business that could establish sites in various cities would have a difficult time transporting freight over those roads.
I love the people, the culture and the food! I also love the fact that my dollar gets me 46 rupees and I can shop like crazy when I go there.
I know a lot of Americans have trouble understanding the accents but that's because we are used to a very different cadence. I have a little trouble when I go over there but I simply ask the person to repeat what he/she is saying and I listen carefully to the rythmn of their words and then I pick it up.

I love to study Indian culture. I have Sanskrit tattoos and practice Yoga. The various gods and goddesses fascinate me. I find their entrance into the information age fascinating, India and China are going to be nations to watch for development in the next 10-20 years.

I think the people of India are very good. It's a shame though that
in a country with so many people starving that cows are considered sacred. Yes, iI know it is because of the Hindu religion.

I can't speak for anyone else. I lived at a rooming house in college full of Indian, mayla, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese students.
I was most impressed with the Indians, a country with large numbers of highly educated english speaking people. I believe socialism has strangled their economy but indications are they are throwing off the shackles of socalism and moving forward.
Of course I was hardly exposed to a represenative sample, since most of these students were post graduates studying in the U.S.
