It isn't so much that we are "afraid" of a one-world government. The object is not the problem. The path to get there is the problem! World unity can only happen in 2 ways:
1.Everybody agrees to love each other and stop fighting and lays down their arms. This falls under "fairie tale".
2. One person/governing body amasses enough firepower to eliminate anybody who disagrees with them, anywhere in the world. Free will and free thought come to an end. The only way some humans will stop fighting, is when they and the earth they stand on are scorched beyond recognition. This is the most likely scenario!
And some people worry about global warming!

I don't think one has any thing to do with the other. Anyone with brains should know that it can't possibly work. Some faiths do believe that the anti-Christ will be the first world leader, but, there are just to many differences in people for it to even have a chance. World unity does not mean world peace !!!! Half of the Americans can't stand Bush, how are you going to get the entire world to agree on one leader?

Okay first of all that was a completely stupid question, think before your next post about Christians. Second, a One World Gov't doesn't mean world peace, ever hear of civil wars and genocide? Third, what's to stop a One World Government from becoming a totalitarian gov't and defeating our civil rights? World Peace should be humanity's ultimate goal and I strongly want it to happen very quickly, but Man is too crooked and evil to have complete control over the world.

True Christians are waiting for One World Government;
Daniel 2:44 'And in the says of those kings the God of Heaven will set up a Kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to ALL these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite,..'
Our Father, who art in Heaven...let your Kingdom come, let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven...
However, no man made Government can bring true peace to the earth successfully. Only God's government has the ability.

Because they believe that the formation of a world government marks the beginning of their persecution (which on an odd side note, many of them seem to look forward to also).
Here's a scary thought for you, if there ever was a man who could bring the world together in peace, a man so great he could be the greatest man in history, a man who has only done good for the world, the Christians would call him the "Anti-Christ" and probably try to kill him.

As a Christian I do not fear a "one world Government." Any Christian that knows the Bible knows that it will ultimately happen anyway. The resistance comes in because the first "one world Government" will be a tool of evil and will persicute Christians and anyone else who does not conform.
Christians are not evil. People who claim to do evil things in the name of Christianity are evil. It is one of the ways Satin fools the world.

It has to do with end time prophecy and how a one world government is part of the last of days.
I'm against having only a world government because if that became corrupt we would all be in great jeopardy.

No they are not a good thing. As Christians we are clearly taught in the Bible that we have no compatibility with this world. Read 2 Corinthians 6. Christ came to deliver us out of it and says that when the world begins to say "peace and safety" than destruction will come upon it. In order to have world unity we would have to deny Christ as God and savior and we can't do that.

World unity and world peace will never be achieved. All the wars in history will tell you that. Communism supposedly achieved unity and peace, but you know what happened to the USSR and other communist countries. They failed in a big way to achieve equality for all. It just isn't possible.

Only Jesus will bring world peace. The world as it is, is mostly run by men, and they will continue to murder and be unjust.
The spirit of Cain, the killer runs in many men, and so a one world government, will be taken over by Satan and his friend, the anti-Christ. Death will be the result of giving any one person, the reigns of global power.
