about their faith. I ask questions about contradictions in the Bible or logical questions taken from my knowledge of their religion and have never yet got a straight answer. I get lots of abuse, and threats.
Maybe asking them questions is akin to mocking the afflicted. What do you think? an example of one of my questions... If Jesus
is the god Christians believe in he would have fore knowledge of all events. Therefore when he commited the offence that lead to his arrest and execution he must have known he would be executed. Therefore he commited suicide didn't he?

Judging from the first answer you received, I'm going to have to say that, yes it is just cruel to ask Christians difficult questions. Apparently if a question is asked by a non-Christian trying to learn more about the faith by asking for answers to questions that are puzzling them about it, it is viewed as an attack against the faith as a whole. I guess we are only allowed to know what they want to tell us.... the rest must be a secret. Oh well...

He didn't commit suicide because he didn't physically kill himself. He sacrificed himself for the sins of mankind. That's why he's called the lamb (a sacrificial symbol). It's like saying that, if I pushed you away from a moving car knowing I would get hit, I committed suicide. When in actuality, I sacrificed myself to save you, because you matter more to me than my own life. Don't feel bad in asking questions, some people get offended but not all. The reason most people can't answer your questions is because they don't study the Bible. Being Christian doesn't make you a saint and it certainly doesn't mean that you know everything concerning God and your religion/faith. You can be curious without disrespecting people. I believe in common courtesy and I respect the beliefs of others whether I agree with them or not because I'm a strong believer in freedom of speech, religion, etc. Cheers!

I don't think it is cruel to ask Christians questions about their faith. Whenever I talk to someone about beliefs that are different than mine, I approach it this way: This is what I believe and why, can you tell me a little about why you believe this or that.

As to your example question: I believe that Jesus is God and He absolutely knew from the beginning of His life exactly when and how He would die. The night before He was taken, He went to the garden and prayed that this burden be taken from Him. As for His committing the crime that He was executed for--Jesus was crucified for presenting Himself as the king of the Jews and preaching "false doctrine." When He was taken before Pilate, He asked the people "what is His crime" and the priests goaded the crowd, saying that Jesus was a false prophet. Pilate ordered the scourging. When Jesus was brought back, Pilate asked the crowd if he had suffered enough, and again the priests goaded the crowd and they cried "crucify him, crucify him!" They chose to release the murderer Barabbas and crucify Christ as a false prophet. As God, He had the power to stop the Roman soldiers at any time, but He allowed Himself to be crucified as a sacrifice for the sins of the world because it was His Father's will. He did not technically take His own life, but allowed them to kill him as a sacrifice.

Hopefully, in the future you will find someone who is willing to sit and calmly discuss any questions or differences of opinion you might have--good luck!

I promise I will not slander you in the text ahead. I always LOVE a challenge! ;-D

You have something wrong with your question here. First of all, Jesus never commited any wrong-doing. This is what caught the disciples off-gaurd. Jesus was sinless. He had to be, otherwise His death on the cross would have been meaningless. Jesus was arrested because of a plot setup by the chief priests and the teachers of the law. Each of these men wanted Jesus dead. Before His arrest, these men tried to catch Jesus several times in His own words. But each attempt failed.

Lastly, Jesus did not commit suicide on the cross.

He was condemned to die by the massive crowd in Jerusalem. It just so happened that these events happened during the Passover. It was a matter of custom for the crowds to pick a criminal to be released back into the public. Instead of Jesus, they chose a murderer by the name of Barabas. All of this was a fulfillment of prophecy listed earlier in the Bible.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins. When he died, sin died with Him. But only Christ came back to life!

All people have some kind of faith, whether it be Christianity, Witchcraft, Satanism, or just believe in Chuck Norris. And it is just human nature to get offended when people question their faith. When you question a persons faith, although not a personal blow to them, they feel like it is. Everyone has at least a little knowledge of what they believe in. And when you point out a flaw in their faith they get angry. So you have to take into consideration, and nobody knows everything about their own faith, because they weren't there to witness it happen in person.

No he didnt want to die. Does anyone choose to be tortured when they want to commit suicide?
His death was the will of the Father. And the fact that he freely accepted the task allowed the church to understand that it was an act of love. "God so loved the world that he gave his son" John 10;17
Also Jesus' knowledge cannot eclipse the fact that he was fully human.

I have no problem with hard questions, I welcome them, unless they are foolish or abusive in nature, then I don't waste my time with them. If you have received abusive or threatening answers, I am sorry, true believers do not do that.

No Jesus did not commit suicide.
1. He died at the hands of others, not His own.
2. Suicide is a selfish act of escape, Jesus' death was an act of unselfishness, He could have easily saved His own life, but He chose to give His life for us. If He had chosen the selfish route, no one would have any chance of salvation. His conquering of death opened the doors of Heaven to us.
3. Simple foreknowledge of ones fate does not equal suicide. If someone saves the life of another, knowing he will lose his life in the process, it is not considered suicide.

Hope that helps.

It's not cruel unless your intentions are that of Satan. It's healthy for us to answer really difficult questions to the best of our ability, then discuss with other Christians what sorts of things we could have done differently. Thank you for asking the difficult questions.

He didn't commit suicide. In the old testiment it was told of the events of the Messiahs coming. He didn't put himself on the cross physically. The romans did. He's God anyway so he can do whatever he wants. He died for YOU! If you were the only person who needed to be saved he would have died for you. Just like a mother or father who loves their child so much would die for them, that's what Jesus did. To save your eternal life. It's not suicide.

It is never cruel to ask Christian difficult questions but what would be cruel is if your questioning have malice intentions like trying to insult them with their belief. For your satisfaction. why don't you ask those you are sure have the authortiy to answer your questions. Most believers grew with their faith because that is what they started to learn from the one who raised them.
