If you wish to hold them for longer than a day, you should cover them and put them in the fridge. You can remove them a good hour or so before you wish to eat them and they will be at room temp.

No, you don't have to. I used to work at a bakery and over night they would put the big tubs of frosting in the fridge, to keep it so you could work with it, but on the cupcakes it was just fine to leave there. It might melt depending on type, so that's why some people suggest keeping it in the frige. But if you cover them well and store them somewhere cool it should be just fine.

You do not have to store your frosted cupcakes in the refrigerator. You also do not have to refrigerate frosting after opening as long as it's in an airtight container and used fairly quickly. The reason they advise you to refrigerate it is because the tops on frosting containers is not very secure.

unfortunately you have to store the cakes in the fridge. unless you want the frosting to melt. However it depends on what type of frosting you have.

I would think it would depend a lot on the temperature of your house. I wouldn't let them get hot and then cool. The best idea is to cover them and put them in the refrigerator. Pull one out and let it come to room temperature before eating it.

you dont have to put them in the fridge as long as you cover them so they dont get stale (even though they can get stale in the fridge too). tupperware or a plastic container with a lid would be your best option.

i would think so. but since you don't like them hard, and cold when you take out of the refrigerator just pop them in the microwave for a few seconds.
