i have gained about 7-10 lbs in the last week, i got sick and never really felt like exercising. before hand though, i lost about 30 lbs in about 3 months kind of taking it serious, but not like i should have. I am going to the MEPS next week, and was wondering if it would be ok or healthy to triple my work out. every day i run 1.8 - 2 miles do 100 sit-ups and about 50 pushups(per session). if i were to do it every morning before i go to work, before i go to bed and when i get home from work, eat sensible meals and drink about a gallon to a gallon and a half of water, would that be healthy? or how should i do it? i need to lose about an inch and a half around the waist to make weight. do you think that will work? or if you have any other suggestions feel free to let me know

I know this sounds funny but my recuiter told me to do this. SERIOUSLY. the night before you go to meps take cerian wrap and Prep H rub it around you stomach and wrap the cerian tight around you and keep it on all night long. Something to do with it absorbs your water in your stomach area. I know it sounds funny but it worked for me. I swear on my grave.

Are you sure you NEED to lose weight? When I went in the service long ago I was fairly slim and weight wasn't an issue so I don't know if they used weight as a factor. However during the Gulf war I Began the enlistment process but the war was over before I got done. At that time they used a body fat measurement....not weight. Honestly if you are running 2 miles and doing 100 sit ups and 50 push ups it doesnt seem to me that you could be overweight by a lot. Chances are good if they went by body fat you'd be ok because as I recall they were pretty liberal. Good luck.

Long term weight loss is based on calorie intake. You must consume expend more than you take in. First find your metabolic rate by using:

The Harris-Benedict equations
The original equations from Harris and Benedict are:

for men, 66.4730 + (13.7516 * w) + (5.0033 * s) − (6.7550 * a)
for women, 655.0955 + (9.5634 * w) + (1.8496 * s) − (4.6756 * a) >
where w = weight in kilograms, s = stature in centimeters, and a = age in years.[2]

Take less in than this and you will lose weight. 3500 calories is equivalent to one pound.

Quick and dangerous method before weigh in. Cutting weight cand be done in one day by eating little food and sitting in a suana with a sweat suit on. You can easily lose 5% of your bodyweight in a 2-6 hour period depending on your level of activity. This is dangerous, so do it wisely with someone there to ensure your health. You will gain this weight back immediately, because it is water weight...

DO NOT use the wrap and rub, it CAN lead to quick dehydration. Secondly you should never do more than 2 workouts in a day as this reduces the stamina your body has (doesn't give your muscles long enough to recover) try a 5 mile bike ride in the mornings along with your weights, and in the evenings do your run along with push-ups and sit-ups.

Use weight watchers diet or diabetic diet. drinking water is good but watch it you can drink to much, also take a good vitamin "Men's health one a day" is great. If you can do a hundred sit -ups I wouldn't worry about the in to much. Good luck
