There are places on my carpet that my puppy has had accidents, and places where the person who used to live heres cat urinated on the carpet...and I can't get rid of the smell. Some places say to use vinegar and water...and some places say that vinegar will attract pets to the spots more...Some say that baking soda and water works....so what do I use? Does anyone have any ways that they have tried that have really worked?

I use Nature's Miracle for stain and odor removal. It works great. It is made to remove urine and such from carpet and all. I work for a vet and we sell it to people and they love it. You can get it at Petsmart or order it from a lot of places.

It might take more than one application, but Just Rite's 1-2-3 Odor Free system truly works miracles. I had a gorgeous leather briefcase that my cat urinated on while I was out of work. Didn't find out until 4 months later that it had happened. I tried Nature's Miracle, Drs. Foster & Smith, Simple Solution, Nilodor, you name it. I was sure the briefcase was ruined.

Stumbled across this product online, and because it had a money back guarantee, called them up. They gave me personalized detailed instructions on how to use, got a kit to me overnight, and in a week's time, you'd never know the cat used it as a litterbox.

I've never used anything that works as well as this. It's expensive, but worth every penny if you have something you really need to salvage.

Change it! That was the only thing that worked for me. I was told the ammonia wasn't going anywhere, and believe me I had tried everything. I was to the point where I was shampooing the carpet at least once a week and it wasn't helping at all! The people who lived in my apartment had a cat, but the apartment complex didn't change the carpet for some reason, so I had to fight with them until they did!

rent a carpet cleaner and dump a few bottles of dollar store fabreeze in with the cleaning solution! if there is wood flooring under the carpet chances are that the urine has soaked into the wood and you would have to remove the carpet and deodorize the wood to get rid of the smell

you can buy this stuff at farm supply stores that is an organic odor neutralizer ask them they`ll know what it is . I used it and it works for a little while, fact is you can never really get rid of it. rip up the carpet and clean with straight vinegar then replace with new carpet, or move. that natures miracle stuff only works short term.

I am a kitten foster parent and one of our male kittens peed on our wall before he got adopted and then all the kittens thought it was a place to go to the bathroom. Plus the smell was horrible. We first shampooed our carpet, basically you put the shampoo all around it then use a mop to rub it in really well, let it dry, then vaccum it up. Then we sprayed natures miracle all over. We went through almost 3 bottles, but it worked. and just to be sure, we put a few tubs over the spots and took them off a few weeks laters when we knew the kittens didnt have any ideas to go back there.
worked for us hope it workes for you!

I use both woolite Pet stain and Resolve pet stain spray for carpet and upholstry for my cat. It gets rid of the urine smell within minutes. The resolve has a better smell I think. They both discourage pet from going in the same spot again. This does work (unless it leaks off of the plastic bags my female insists on going on). They also get rid of the smell when your pet gets sick.

Vinegar and club soda might work, but most of the time you can never completely get the smell out if it is old and has already dried. Vinegar won't encourage them.

NEVER use ammonia! That WILL attract them back, because it already smells like urine.

I have 3 cats, and have had carpets and tried to deal with that problem. Finally got rid of the carpets, had beautiful pergo floor installed. Cats and carpet don't mix.
