How many of you who suffer from depression also have a hard time keeping up with the housecleaning?

Also, how many of you have a weight problem due to depression?

I struggle with both of these issues and wondered how many others do. Thanks everyone.

Yes, I'm afraid so honey ! Yes, on all 3, depressed, don't feel like doing anything & overweight. I feel like they all go hand in hand for some horrible reason. I have been on Prozac for years, tried other's but had bad side effects. I was told I need a good B-complex vitamin but half the time don't feel like swallowing it. I hate to go to the grocery store & I hate being around noise & people. I just want to sit in my messy bedroom, eat & play on the computer.

Who likes to clean anyway!! So, depression can be used as an excuse not to, or it can be that you really don't have what it takes to get up and do it. Depression can cause so much pain for ourselves and others, it is hard to make ourselves do anything. Sometimes when I was at my worst I would just sit and sleep in the recliner or bed all day long. I had know energy, and was so sad I felt helpless. I have gained weight but probably from the antidepressants and anxiety drugs I take. Everyday is a struggle and a challenge, so just take it one day at a time and know that you are not alone. God Bless!!

My closest friend suffers depression and yes to both of your questions. She doesn't do the housework all the time because she is so depressed she just doesn't care so much. But then when the house is messy she gets even more depressed cuz she's not keeping it tidy and clean. She has also gained some weight.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!

I have battled with depression all my life, and have a hard time finding the motivation to do things like keep up with the household or exercise. I focus my attention on my job and my son, and my boyfriend when I had one; and distract myself from myself with this website (among other things).

I've taken several different medications over the years, with no help there; and tried different counseling techniques. I feel like there's a broken circuit in my head somewhere and someone needs to flip the switch -- but nothing works. So my search continues...

When I'm depressed I can't be bothered cleanng up, I just leave stuff lying around. I can't eat when I'm upset, so when I'm badly depressed I lose weight.
