I don't think that is the correct word.
There are people with more knowledge because of spiritual growth.
More religious? no. More dedicated? No.
Spiritual growth is not obtained overnight. Knowledge is not read in a week.
You can live a lifetime and learn on your deathbed, things you never knew.
You can listen to a sermon 10 times over and over and hear something you didn't hear last time.

As someone above said, personal preference. Some people chose not to believe it because they think it's not possible for the spiritual to exist, some chose not to believe because of past experiences, and, some chose not to believe because religion isn't there priority in life, and they really don't factor it in with their lives.

as with all living things, humans come in many varieties. It is impossible to make every human the same way, because that is not how we are designed. Not everyone believes the same things, either, regardless of whether they claim to be of the same religion..

For the same reason some folks are fatter than others.
Reason is suspended when your caloric intake of religion
is too high.
