Usually it is 3 months, and you should have sex until your doc says you can (b/c of the birth experience).

I think that is a personal question that doesn't have any "pat" answer. I had both of my daughters by c-section which meant that my recovery time was a little longer. But that was fine. It gave me time to adjust and recover and then be ready to have intimate time with my husband. I will say that it was at least 6 to 8 months before I was really back into my sexual self and a year to really feel better. Just give yourself some time. If you've always been active sexually, I'm sure it will come back sooner. Just don't stress over it, because that will make things worse.

LOL... about 18 1/2 years.
I can't speak from personal experience, as I am pregnant now and, after 3 months of horrible 24/7 morning sickness, I seem to have found my sex drive again. I have friends, however, who wouldn't let their husbands touch them for the entire 9 months, or for about a year after the birth.
Every woman is different, and every pregnancy is different. And just because your doctor clears you to have sex again doesn't mean you should suddenly have your sex drive back. It might take a while, and it's okay that it takes a while. A woman's body goes through a major transition when she gets pregnant, and that changing doesn't stop for a couple of years after the baby is born. You're normal. Give yourself a chance to heal, and give your body the chance to right itself again. You'll be "you" again. You (and your partner) just need to be patient.

Ho Honey! my husband wanted to have sex that same week, we actually did it about two weeks after birth. Of course my doctor said to Wait for about 3 months. The problem is, and you should understand it, that your body just went trough so much by giving birth that your vagina is recuperating and your partner should understand that too. However if you want to pleased him, you can do other things, like oral, showers together, just have fun while your body is ready again. Also, you may get pregnant immediately if you try to do it too soon without a birth control.

6 weeks after delivery is adequate if everything is normal. It is always advisable not to determine by yourself that all is well and it is highly recommended that you consult your Dr. and follow his advice.
