not at all. the power you can generate with only a pushbike is miniscule to the power needed to power a whole house. A pushbike would only be useful if you were to power only the coffee machine.

I remember an old article about Eddy Mercx (sp?), many time Tour de France winner, set a new "hour record." They put him on a bicycle dynamometer and he put out a constant 0.6 hp for 1 hour.

This power level is almost superhuman.

If the generator is 100% efficient, then Power = 0.6hp*750 Watt
= 450 Watts. This is enough for one large TV.

And you would need to have Eddy living with you, you'd only be able to watch a single 1 hour program, and you would have to feed him & let him recover for at least 1 day before he'd do it again.

A person powered generator can only produce enough electricity to power a small TV. Powering a refrigerator, let alone a whole house, is out of the question.

You can probably pedal hard enough to keep a 60 watt lightbulb lit, until you get tired or bored. But you can't pedal hard enough to run all your house appliances. You'd need five good pedalers just to keep your computer going.

Absolutely. Plus, you could get one of those illegal immigrants to power the bike for less than $10 per day.

I can't... I need too much power than can be generated by just a human on a bicycle.

Yes, in theory. but you have to do a lot of pedaling, then you would be exhausted and you would need the air conditioning. you get the picture?
