I adopted a 2 yr. old female spayed weim a few months ago from a rescue/shelter. I've had huge neapolitan mastiffs for years-I cannot believe how quick, fast, smart, these dogs are. It was a shock at first, but we all figured it out. Mastiffs, at least mine, are SLOW, LAZY, MELLOW, GENTEL GIANTS. Gracie ( new weim) is a firecracker. A real hunting dog-sniffs out everything. Loves loves loves to run!!!!!!!!!!! Needs at least 2 good long runs/walk a day. They are known to be and mine is very , very affectionate , loving, and protective. Wants to be near me all the time when I am home. Be ready for the increased exercise requirements that she may have, when she is a little older. I think you'll be very happy!! Good Luck! Train EARLY with a leash and collar-They are natural bird dogs so, be ready for her to take off after a bird-They are so smart, they learn very fast.

They can be very stubborn, Patience is the best thing and an obedience class will help a lot. They are high energy dogs. Good luck.

My grandma used to have one and she was the best dog ever. They love love love attention I can tell you that AND they get along great with other dogs!! As far as tips & tricks go, nothing different than other dogs as far as I know, just have to keep working with her until she gets it and be sure to reward her!

The wimer will be rather high strung, but a real lover. We had Ike for about 12 years, his biggest probalem was eye infections.
