From what you described it sounds like a possible brain herniation, a deadly side effect of very high intracranial pressure. It occurs when the brain shifts across structures within the skull. The brain can shift by such structures as the falx cerebri, the tentorium cerebelli, and even through the hole called the foramen magnum in the base of the skull (through which the spinal cord connects with the brain). Herniation can be caused by a number of factors that increase intracranial pressure such as traumatic brain injury. Because herniation puts extreme pressure on parts of the brain, it is often fatal. Therefore, extreme measures are taken in hospital settings to prevent the condition by reducing intracranial pressure.
The patient may become paralyzed on the same side as the lesion causing the pressure, or damage to parts of the brain caused by herniation may cause paralysis on the side opposite the lesion. Damage to the midbrain, which contains the reticular activating network that regulates consciousness will result in coma. Damage to the cardio-respiratory centers in the medulla will cause respiratory and cardiac arrest.
In no way, shape or form am I a doctor so please do not take this as a diagnosis, it's just a possibility. I hope it's something else!
Good luck to you and your friend.

This sounds more like a brain tumor than a stroke or aneurysm. Brain tumors are not all cancerous but they are always serious because of their location. Usually strokes and aneurysms occur suddenly - they do not develop over 3 weeks time but a tumor produces symptoms that get progressively worse as it increases in size.

So sorry about your friend, I couldn't say what it is but at least he is in the hospital now and was when the lump came up so maybe that will mean faster and better treatment. The thing about seizures is that they can be caused by so many things that it usually takes a while to find the cause.

Sounds like a stroke. If his cranial pressure doesn't decrease, he may not recover.

I don't really know but with those symptoms they'd better find something out fast.
