all you really have to do is suck.. a hickey is caused by an extreme amount of pressure which breaks up the blood vessules (causing a bruise)... it only takes but a small suckage to do so on someone..

Suck really hard on what ever area you want the hickey to show up. It is like kissing really hard

Suck on their neck. You will know you did a good job when they have a hickey.

If you really want to show you care for them, a lot of gentle kissing/ licking/ nibbling/ sucking/ stroking on the neck is almost guaranteed to be more appreciated than chewing and hoovering on them until they bruise.
Lovebites(hickeys) are pretty much solely used to mark someone as property. Which they aren't. Get a clue.

Just keep sucking on their skin hard enough and it will bruise (hickey)

I can't believe anyone hasn't said this yet, but just don't do it, okay? It's not a great idea. Everyone's right, you do it by sucking on the person's skin, but you will probably regret it, and they definitely will. Maybe not right away, but after certain people (mainly adults) see it and make judgments about you and them ... it's unavoidable, so it's just not a great idea.
