I talk to myself all the time, and if anyone tries to rag on me about it, I just say, "There is nobody else around intelligent enough to talk to." Shuts them right up.

Yes. A woman I worked with once caught me and loudly made it known, I covered it up by saying, "Well yeah, it's the only intelligent conversation I ever get around here."

I was an only child and I learned early to have great conversations with myself. I'm retired now after years of teaching and I talk to myself without worrying about being "caught" doing it. It's normal; it helps me remember tasks I need to complete and at my age I need all the help I can get!

Please tell me HOW you "cover that up" and not look more absurd than you already do? I just say, "Sorry, I was talkin' to myself 'cause I find myself so damn interesting!" and leave it at that. If the the person has a sense of humor he/she will laugh, and if he/she is lacking in that department, that person will merely deem you to be daft or narcissistic. Either way, "it don't mean $hi+" - in the immortalized words of "Mr Natural" (ZAP comic books character from the 60's & early 70's).

Oh yeah!

Zig Ziegler said . . . there's not a problem when you talk to yourself. I will go a step further and say there is not a problem when you answer yourself. But there is a problem if you are talking to yourself and you hear yourself go "huh?"

Yes, and when you get caught you say, "Well a fella (or gal) has to have an intelligent conversation once in a while."
