She's a week into crate training, and going outside when asked, however she still is going pee in her crate (she is really restricted in her crate so it isn't too big for her, she can barely turn around).. I've been off of work for a week, but tomorrow I got back.. I'm fearing I'm going to come home to a mess at my lunch hour tomorrow. thought puppies were supposed to eliminate where they slep and eat? What should I do? Will she be miserable if she pees when I'm not here, will it become a habit of hers since I can only take her out before work, my lunch hour and when I get home?

I disagree with some of these peoples answers.
Obviously you care about her very much. Take her out as usual and praise her. There is a spray can wee wee and it is safe for animals. Spray it in her cage or where she goes in the house and it will deter her from going there. Leave a radio on softly when you go to work so she doesn't feel alone. When you get home, play with her and praise her again. She should be ok soon. Remember she is a baby and she's only been working on crate training for a week. Just keep up the love and hard work and she will be a great companion.

It takes much longer than one week to crate-train a dog, and crate-training is not at all the grand solution its proponents claim. A puppy needs room. Take it out of the crate and put it in an outdoor run while you're not home...leaving it in the crate all day is hideously cruel and inhumane. While it's in the run, make sure it has an enclosed shelter into which it can creep when it rains or snows and which it can come out of of it's own volition. When you ARE home, walk the creature every two hours during the day. Last walk at 11:00 PM - but get up and walk the dog no later than 6:00 AM.
Sounds like you didn't bother to become well-informed regarding care of a dog before you got your pup. Guess what: its a living, breathing and entirely dependent creature, as much so as a human child. YOU, and noone else, are entirely responsible for it's care and feeding, and caring means a heck of a lot more than just feeding and watering and walking the dog. You don't sound ready for the responsibility.

Hmm tough situation. You are being good by visiting during lunch break. I believe puppies can only hold pee about four hours normally. Hard situation. Which breed? If it is a smaller breed you could try using a litter box. My chihuahua is house broken and has a litter box for when I can not get home. They actually make litter for dogs.
You may need to hire a dog walker or something. You are right to have a smaller crate, other wise it defeats the purpose.
Also, look into Dog Daycare.
The big thing is expect accidents to happen and do not yell at the dog for them (he or she won't know why you are yelling and will just get scared.)
If you catch the pup peeing in the house thats when you say NO! and bring it outside right away.

the guy who stated that the only option to crating a canines is euthanasia or the pound is somewhat ridiculous. Crating isn't the only thank you to potty prepare a canines and that i accept as true with the guy who pronounced that crating is inhumane. i think of that's barbaric the way unquestionably everyone seems to be telling you to place the canines in a smaller crate - as a replace of telling you the "superb suited" thank you to crate - if there rather is taken into consideration one of those factor. in simple terms supervise the domestic dog extra and take her exterior on a common schedule. that's not rocket technological know-how. the less time you spend along with her, the longer it rather is going to take - yet she'll get there. provide her it sluggish and endurance and love. do not stick her in a cage for hours after which ask your self why the toddler canines had an twist of destiny. additionally - the advice that canines do not know the version between a not hardship-free metallic floor and a gentle blanket borders on sociopathic.

best you can do is get rid of the cage and give her some bigger area (like put wire fencing in you living room) and get a dog "litter" box thing.
train her to go in it, and after awhile she'll know she has to go in the litter box so you can just let her rome around the house.
the puppy will learn quick enough that you won't be home so much but be careful, spoil her tons when you do get home or if you don't she will leave you. after all, keep in mind this is a BABY, although dogs mature faster than human babies its still a BABY so spoil her like you would do with a human baby. get her toys and treats and play with her and go for walks in the park at least every other day. and no she won't be stressed to go peeing when you aren't there.

Your puppy will eventually stop. Just take the puppy outside right before you leave for work and each time you come in the house. She will learn not to relieve herself in her bed room. You may have to clean up a few messes. It takes a little time and patience.
Good Luck.

I'm assuming you are not leaving food or water in the crate, so, perhaps you need to feed her much earlier in the morning and then give her plenty of time to relieve herself before you leave.

She must not be able to hold it as long as you are asking her to.
Also, perhaps you could try feeding her in the crate for a while, to reinforce the idea that it is her "den" and should not be for eliminating.

If you put her food in the crate with her , she shouldn't go. Few animals will relieve themselves near their food.
