I live in a condo; I have a neighbor who lives above me. He is constantly making noise during the night whether if it is having friends over or having loud music or even walking loud. I confronted him once and he told me that he was sorry and didn’t know that we can hear it but weeks later he started to do it again. what should i do?. He is constantly making noise during the wee hours. Should i talk to him again and if i do what should i say?. i can't move cuz i signed a 4 year lease to this place or should i put up with the noise. please help!!!

I am in favor of realizing that each tenant of the condominium has an adult responsibility to know when to quieten down and should act accordingly. Of course, that's an ideal that many do not live up to, and so the more mature and adult tenants have to "pick up the slack" a bit and get them to act adult, so, if it were me, I'd get in touch with the leasor / lessor of the condo you live in and make a formal complaint so that the problem can be handled "in house" without you having to act as a policeman and coming face-to-face with an irresponsible individual in the midst of a party where alcohol makes hostilities increasingly possible. If that does not work, I truly would go straight to the police, or a lawyer and file charges. You might never be your neighbor's friend subsequently, but then, being the friend of every poor slob in the world isn't your responsibility. God Bless you.

I strongly disagree with the first answer! I HATE the police and calling them is never an option! Get off your *** and go upstairs WHILE the noise is going on. It is hard to tell someone that they are making noise at a certain time, after the time has passed. It is possible that as he said, he doesn't realize that he is making noise. So you need to make him aware when the noise is occurring not after! Sometimes people don't realize that they are being noisy, they may be trying unsuccessfully to be quiet and think that they are succeeding! You have many years to live in that condo, would you want to have a bad relationship with a neighbor go on for that long?!

Like everyone else, that makes noise, ask him again without causing a scene. If that doesn't work next time call the police or the condo owners association. Best of luck to you.

Well, if it gets too annoying you can call the police (might have a noise control unit) and have them come talk to him..

If it's leased perhaps there is management that you can complain to?

Perhaps be a bit stern but plea sent saying it's getting pretty late..

Or if you are like me..and wise and cranky beyond my years I just take the broom and jab the broom handle on the ceiling to tell him to knock it off!

Ok, He probably signed a 4 year lease too. so he is noisy, speak with your landlord or property management team and ask if there is another apartment you can move to in the complexs, that is the same as yours now, he sounds like a night owl which is different from your night time routine so, this might be a solution.

If he is annoying other neighbours also perhaps you could provide moral support for each other and try talking to him again. If not remind him of your previous chat and say that the constant noise is getting you down again, tell him to buy thicker carpets for better sound proofing. Failing that report him to the rental people and let them deal with it.

Condos have really strict rules on behavior. Go to the office and complain to them about this guy. If that doesn't work then just start calling the police. He'll get the idea eventually, or he'll get kicked out.

See if there is another condo in the same complex that you could move to, and then you will not be breaking the lease.

Tell him you'll make him a deal. If the noise gets too loud, you'll give him a call. When people get drinking and talking they get oud and usually don't realize how loud they are being. Just give him a ring and ask if he could tone it down just a little. See how it goes from there.

Complain to your leasing office. If you do that enough, then they may kick him out. And if it gets bad enough then call the cops
