Really, I sit here in the evening in front of my computer wondering these things. Is this debate just a macro scaled version of the conflict we all face internally? Mind or heart.

Why don't you get involved with some research in the field and commence a survey according to you question?
It's a good idea and the answers in which you'd collate would certainly arrive at being accurate.

Good point. I know that some of both sides are. what does that mean to their purpose? we all face deep heart-tearing internal conflict at the base of it all no matter your station in life. It is both mind and heart because we have both. They are only 18in apart and undeniably connected. We are dead without either. Keep searching you'll find the purpose of both if you keep digging. TRUST ME.

Who doesn't seek to open both?

The mind gives you clarity to get through life. The heart gives you the ability to enjoy it.

How you do it (through religion or reason) is just the path to follow. Choose the one that's best for you.

Atheists only seek to free society from the fear, superstition & ignorance required by most religions & all bible based religions.

It is not an issue of mind v. heart.

It is an issue of ignorance v. education.

christians are not trying to open your heart, they are trying to scare people into believeing everything that they do through fear of an afterlife.
