Sorry, but weight gain frequently follows colectomy. Try to not really gain a lot, but the operation gives you your life back - weight gain is a small price to pay! When I had colitis I was hoping that I would live long enough that my baby daughter would remember me. Now she's married and has a PhD, and I'm hoping for grandchildren who will love me regardless of my weight.
I lost a lot of weight with hypnosis, but it came back, and finally I just decided to eat healthy, exercise, and not worry about the scales. I love my life now!
