Why don't you understand that it wasn't different. Being a teenager has been a really hard time in a persons life from the beginning of time. Sex, drugs, grades, parents, school, friends, fitting in, not having money, not having enough freedom, etc. These things have been around forever and your children will experience the same things. Talk to you parents and maybe when they talk to you try to listen.

Yes, but they were teens at one time. We have all been through things when we were teenagers. Probably not exactly the same things, but they still seemed it at the time. Teenagers today are spoiled brats who have no concept of money or responsiblity. I have a19 year old sister who is a royal pain. She thinks the world revolves around her and noone else. Her cell phone sucks, her car always needs gas--but heaven forbid if we actually work for the gas money.

Parents do understand what you are going through--they're just too tired from working so much to help pay for your wants and needs.

Honey, everybody thinks their parents don't understand them. If your parents were teenagers of the 70s, they would be more sensitive to your feelings. I was a teenager back then, and my mom was a teenager of the 50s. That era in time was so "pure", so to speak, that you couldn't talk about ANYTHING. They just had the idea that if you ignore stuff, it all goes away. Not true. So, I made up my mind that my kids would be able to come to me with anything they needed to talk about. Sometimes I get a little too much information, but they know they have someone they can come to.

What are you going through?
Tell them, tell how you feel and why.
But really, in a few years it won't matter at all. Being a teenager sucks, just try to get through it as best you can. It changes a lot when you get to college, and once you are out of there it's completely different.
There is nothing you can do now. High School sucks and being a dependant, poor, teenager living at home sucks.

I know what you mean. My parents don't understand sometimes. There's a really sweet website you should go to that I found. It called http://girlhood4ever.tripod.com and it's a lot of help. You should e-mail them and ask them your question. They even have help on surviving and starting middle school! It's amazing!! Okay well I'm sorry I can't really help you to much but I'm sure that website can. I hope your problem gets better.

Sorry, but it was also tough when your parents went through it. I could ask the question, why don't you listen to your parents? After all, I'll bet they made mistakes some of them big, so they could probably help you. Have you ever REALLY tried to explain what you go through so that maybe they CAN understand?

Your parents are caring and love you too much. You should be polite and respect them. You should discuss your problems openly with them, but please don't argue. It is sure that they will understand your problems to resolve in better ways in comparison to any other on the earth.
