We have two dogs. the one destroys stuff when i am home. She is happy here. I just can't find enough for her to do outside so she doesn't get bored. She is in training to be a search and rescue dog.

Does she do it when your home? Or just when your gone? My dog has "seperation anxiety". Well I got another dog and now she doesnt chew and freak out when i'm gone. Hope I helped.

She's in training to be a search and rescue? Ask the person who is training her then, they should be more than qualified to handle that sort of problem.

this may sound cruel but i have used it on all of our dogs and it works!!! use the bristle-end of your broom to smack the dog when you find it doing it's destruction--THEN leave the broom where-ever they have destroyed something--fence, chair seats, etc. if it reoccurs, smack them again--they get the drift after 2 or three good smacks. not hard enough to hurt them but enough to get their attention. when you find them doing it again, and smack them again--shake the broom and scold them and leave the broom--at the fence or tree...not much you can do about toys since you gave them those to play with. i go get things at garage sales and just let them tear those things up--stuffed toys, etc.

You need to try to figure out why she only does it outside. Is something bothering her when she is left outside and how long is she left outside? Does she get bored and start tearing things up? Work with her to find out what is going on.

Sounds like she is having separation anixiety, maybe you need to get her a playmate. I have a weenie dog and when he was alone he would tear up his toys when I left him. So we got him a playmate and he quit doing it. Hope this helped. J
