depending on the size of the steak, 5 to 6 minutes on one side and 4 on the other on very hot charcoal. more if you prefer well done, this I suggested makes medium rare.

there is really no exact time anybody can give since for example the cooking temperature or thickness of the meat are never exactly the same.
but you can find out how well your steak is cooked during the cooking process by pressing it with a finger. the more it is cooked the firmer it will be. when you have tried it a few times (or simply press raw and well done steaks to test and compare), you will get used to the way the steak feels during the certain cooking stadiums (medium rare, medium well....).

Keep fliping it till when you cut the center of the steak it is the color you prefer

5 minutes on one side, turn once & 3 minutes on other side. It will be medium & great!

20 minutes is the best time.
