It depends on the groom's dad and the wishes of the bride and groom. My dad did at one brother's wedding, but not the other's.
At the first wedding, my brother's bride-to-be decided that the fathers should not wear tuxedos. At the other brother's wedding, his bride-to-be decided that the fathers should wear tuxedos.
Actually, it appears that it is up to the bride.

He should be in similar attire to the Bride's dad who is generally in the same attire as the Best Man and the Groomsmen. However, the Bride's dad does not have to wear the same as the men in the bridal party. I have asked my dad to wear this great looking suit that he bought a couple of years ago that was made in India rather than him renting a tux.

It depends...are the groom and groomsmen wearing tuxedos? If so, he might want to. If he doesn't have a major part in the ceremony, he probably doesn't need to. If he wants to, there shouldn't be a problem.

He should wear a tuxedo if all the other men involved in the wedding wear them.

My brother is getting married next month and all dads and stepdads are wearing tuxes. It's really up to the bride and groom.

Absolutely, if he wants to. When I got married, both our father's wore tuxedos, but it was a fairly formal wedding.

our dads are. might as well give them a chance to look as snazzy as they can, but i dont think that they have to wear tuxes if they dont want to. i think it is really up to u, and also take into account what would make him more comfortable too.
