Im 15 years old (gay guy, havent told parents) and the middle child of a family of 5. My younger brother is babied 10 billion tons 10 fold. He shows no respect for me at all. He is 13. To my parents, teachers, co-workers, friends, and relatives Im probably the perfect child. Yeah I have my temper along with other things but Ive had it with being "Mr. Just sit there and take it" guy.
Today I answered the phone and it was my little brothers gf. I said he was buisy cause he was going to the bathroom. I figured who really wants to here that someone is on the can over the phone. She said to let him know she called. I didnt know my brother had taken a piss so as I hung up my brother yelled wait, but it was to late. I said it was his gf and he said he was out but I didnt know that. So my dad yelled at me for just saying he was buisy and not taking the time to ask if he could answer the phone. My dad said I didnt show him any respect.
Am I wrong to be angry with my dad? Should I be more angry?

I'm a parent, and it sounds like your dad overreacted a little, but I wouldn't worry about that. Tomorrow the whole phone thing will be forgotten. What I found sort of interesting is you started the entire question by saying you are gay, but not out, and then you went on to talk about a completely different issue. It must be hard to have to keep that inside. I hope you have someone you can trust to tell.

It does seem a bit harsh. I am a parent I have yelled at my daughter for telling someone the other was taking a crap!!! How rude is that? If this is an all the time thing then yeah I would probably say something or if you did it out of spite. Other wise no. Honey are you sure you are gay? I mean it is such a hard life. I don't mean to sound like you don't know your own mind cuz I am sure that you would know at your age, but it is such a struggle and being a teen in this day age is rough enough. My suggestion is don't tell the parents right away. Unless they are very open minded people. You will only make life harder for yourself for the next 3 or so years. I would definitely wait on that conversation. Hope you can work out your problem, try to understand that is also hard to be a parent, you may never get to the that joy. Being sexually oriented the way you are. Being parent isn't always easy and good lord your parents had 5! i can't imagine that, I had 2.

First question; are you wrong for being angry? Anger is one of many emotions. When you are angry, it's impossible to say whether you should or should not be. The fact is, you are. That being said, you are entitled to your emotions. My questions back to you is, was it this one situation that made you angry, or is it several things piling up? If you think it may be many things all coming together then I would suggest you try writing them out and address them one by one with your parents in an open and honest conversation.

Hopefully you have the type of relationship with your parents that will allow you to express yourself. Sometimes just getting it off your chest and having someone hear you, works wonders.

Second question; should you be more angry? No, while anger is one emotion, it's not the most productive. Take that energy and do something positive with it.

The fact of your sexual preference, your family situation does not matter a lick here.

I think you have a lot more to talk about and worry about than phone manners. Let it go. Tell your Dad that you were put in an awkward situation and you responded. Tell him next time you will try to do better - let it go.

Ahhh -- it was all just a big misunderstanding --that happens around our house all the time. Try to talk to your dad about what happened and apologize if you were rude. It will all blow over in a day or two ----Good luck to ya!

Be angry for what? There are bigger things to get angry for and this is not one dont hold on to the smaller things. Focus on what you are going through being gay and all. you are only 15 yo and have most likely no sense of direction. dont hold on to a feeling that isnt real that could have a impact on the rest of your life

well i think that you do have a right to be angry at your dad cause he shouldn't yell at you just for saying that. i don't think that you should be more angry. but anywayz about that gay thing, i think that you should totally tell him. just so that you don't have to keep it from him!!!!! and in plus it feels good to get things off of your chest. (to a certain extent!!!!!) ~lol lol lol lol~

To me it seems that you are taking things wrong because you are feeling guilty about not telling your family you are gay.I am a mother and a grandmother. Good luck and God bless you.
