There are some fantastic answers here to choose from. Circuit City usually does a good job in taking the time to review a customer's tastes, budget, and auto-fitment. When you go to an audio shop, be prepared to spend a decent length of time to really find the right system for YOU!
It's really all up to what your ears like and don't like. Take the time to go to an audio store with about 5 of your favorite cd's, (I burned about 4 cd's and took them with me), and ask to listen to your cd's with the same head unit and same amp, with different speakers, of course.
You might surprise yourself that sometimes the most expensive speakers won't sound the best to YOUR ears. Also when you do listen to your music, take a good few minutes to close your eyes to each set of speakers, this will eliminate your sense of sight and let your ears focus on the music.
I'm running an Eclipse head unit in my car, with Infinity Kappa series components in the front, 6x9's in the rear, and an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10" sub in the back. Two MTX 4002 amps power the system. The combination of the speakers with the Eclipse head reproduces sound that is crystalline to my ears. but once again, may not be to yours!

Go to circuitcity.com and click on the car audio link. After that you will see something ont he side that says make and model. Put in the make and model of your car. Once that has been put in it will filter out all the speakers that are made to fit your car. Good sound quality is what you are looking for so I would go with either RocksfordFosgate speakers or Infinity. I've had both, they sound excellent. Other than that, brands that I dont recommend are Pioneer, Lightning Audio, Dual, and Kicker. Those companies suck at making component speakers. So stick with Rocksford's and you will be good. They last for a long time.

The cheapest speakers that sound good would probably be some infinity refs coaxial speakers. At circuit city and best buy a pair of 6.5" are $100 a pair but at millionbuy.com they are $60 a pair plus shipping. These are some of the best sounding speakers off a hu. I have 2 pairs of the 6.5" infinitys and have had them both running off the hu and off an amp. They sound very good off an hu but they sound extremely well off an amp. They have these on display at cc and best buy if you want to take a listen so good luck.

Bose does no longer make any aftermarket motor vehicle audio. They do provide the "suitable price" audio platforms for some vehicle manufacturers, consisting of well-known automobiles, yet regularly overseas nameplates. good aftermarket motor vehicle audio speaker manufacturers comprise JL Audio, Focal, Rockford-Fosgate, Alpine, Kicker, Boston Acoustics, Infinity, and Polk Audio. when you're merely setting up alternative audio gadget and preserving the production unit put in receiver, it truly is ideal to verify on audio gadget with a more effective sensitivity score and a really decrease RMS power decision. maximum inventory receivers have an output of 10 watts RMS or a lot less. Aftermarket head instruments will start up at about 14 watts RMS and bypass 20 watts RMS or more effective. Alpine, Rockford-Fosgate, and Kicker all make ingredient platforms and/or 2-way or 3-way audio gadget that are literally not expensive and that sound somewhat good with a production unit receiver. JL Audio, Focal, and Boston Acoustics elements and coaxials will likely require more effective power than you receives from a established inventory receiver. In any adventure, with both a inventory receiver or an o.e.m head unit, in case you swap the volume each and each of how up, it is likely going to distort in spite of what audio gadget you've. To get truly loud and stay sparkling, you opt to think about amping the audio gadget.

first you need to know what size speakers you can put in your car. i would suggest going to www.crutchfield.com and put in you make model and year car and it will tell you what you can put in it. While you're there you can browse what speakers they offer that will fit your car. I would suggest a 3-way speaker, gives off better sound in my opinion. if your not gonna put an amp on them, just stick to a 4 ohm speaker, you can get some decent pioneer 3-way speakers at wal-mart for about $60-70 a pair.

Are you replacing the radio too? Go to BestBuy and talk to the guys there. They will treat you right. Just explain what it is you want and how much you want to spend. I would lean towards Infinity.

You need the size of the holes for them. Do it yourself. Hole to opposite hole should be the number you need.
