Most people pick on people of different ethnic, religious, cultural or their country of origin because they don't understand or believe in what they do. Regarding Mexicans their is significant amount of racism toward them but much of it seems to be related with many of them being here illegally and the perception by many American that are out of work that it is their fault they (the US citizen) can't get a job. But really, how many of those Americans bitching about job theft would take a minimum wage job washing dishes if they use to work on the Ford assembly line. Now that's racist.

Fear of brown faces. It wasn't so long ago that "heathen Chinee" was a description for Asian immigrants...not to mention "Wops, Guineas, Dagos" were pejoratives for Italians, of course the African-American connotation more recently came into popular culture to replace the dreaded "N" word. It appears that its the Mexican's turn in the immigrant slur box. Most of the people on this site have no concept of the real racism and how it works politically and culturally in the grand scheme of things. England doesn't want "Pakis", Spain is resisting Africans swimming the Straits of Gibraltar, Mexico repulses Guatemalans, and so it goes. We shall see what the next millennium will bring. Peace be with you.

There is absolutely nothing racist about asking for the law to be applied equally to all immigrants, and insisting that all immigrants, regardless of economic status or country of origin, abide by the same lawful processes to obtain legal status. No bigotry is shown by people who demand that immigrants, who come to this country, learn the language of the land, instead of us having to learn their language. I think this is common sense. There used to be a time that immigrants were grateful for the magnanimity that this country bestowed on them and would gladly assimilate the values, language, and culture of this nation. Now they come to segregate themselves and erect ghettos, effectively carving up the American landscape, so they can have their own slice of their homeland right here in the United States.
In brief, Americans will stop hounding Mexicans when they stop behaving as they currently are behaving, and start acting the way the immigrants of old used to act. As the immigrants of the past, don’t try to change America, allow America to change you.

It's not as simple as you seem to make it. It is a multi-faceted problem that is being ignored and pushed aside because no politician wants to be the one to make the hard decisions.
It's not "Mexicans" per se. It is the illegal immigration of 14 million latinos into America. It is their illegal status that is the problem. Many of these 14 million are not the best and brightest that Mexico has to offer. They bring with them crime and drug abuse. The point is, it is easy living up here compared to what they are used to. They have no intentions to naturalize to become American citizens.
They have children with them. They become eligible for government assistance (even though their status here is illegal). They are not contributing to the tax burden of this country. They are bleeding our system. We are supporting them. They are taking what money they do make and sending it home to Mexico. That is not helping our economy.
We are empowering them to take advantage of us. If they want to become Americans, GREAT!!! Let them naturalize and welcome to America. If they do not want to become citizens of the United States, send them back. It really is that simple. Nothing racist about it. I, the American taxpayer, do not like seeing my tax dollars wasted on people who are using our system against us. If we don't give illegal aliens (what you call "undocumented workers") money and support to live here illegally, they will have no choice but to begin naturalization proceedures or leave.

we all, or our ancestors (with the exception of the american indian) came here from other countries. if it weren't for my great-grandparents coming here on a boat, i wouldn't be who i am today. i truly welcome anyone who wants to come here legally, no matter what kind of job they perform - whether it's to cut my grass or be my boss. BUT, i do take exception with those immigrants - legal or illegal - who come here and refuse to learn the language and expect my children to take another language in school just to be able to communicate with their friends' parents. the children try - and hopefully will end up making a place for themselves - since they are able to speak the language.
i don't automatically discriminate when i hear my language being spoken with an accent. and i think anyone who is here legally should be able to obtain any job they can perform. BUT, i have to say that i get irritated when i go through a drive-thru or am at a store and the person assigned to serve the general public can't understand what i'm saying or doesn't have the language skills to converse with me.
my husband's grandparents come here from overseas not knowing a word of english. they became citizens, got jobs or created their own, raised kids and learned to speak the language. i know they spoke their native tongue at home, but they made an effort to learn the language. had they not, their livelihoods would have suffered. i only wish the same would be happening today. we have schools specifically designed to teach english. anyone coming here who does not know the language should try to acclimate.

People don't like Mexicans hun, they all think they're eat burritos and have taco flavored kisses along with hopping over the boarder like a bunny rabbit. Stereotypes, it's the same reason everyone hates Arabs. Our country is obviously so very forgiving.

Mexico's by and large the source of our largest influx of illegal immigrants in the United States. The pro-illegal/pro-mexico camp is quick to throw the race card at any percieved opposition.....
Support the US Border Patrol
Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service
border fence
employer enforcement
Also, don't be afraid to write your city council and ask for more to be done on immigration enforcement

if you look at the percent of illegal aliens who are mexican, you can understand an irritation with the culture. it is sad for mexicans who want to be or are americans, the illegals are screwing it up for them, but racism is not a factor in most cases
