Was he running around a lot? If so, does he normally run around a lot? It might just be his muscles are bothering him -sort of like those 40 year old armchair athletes who think they can play football with 20 year olds (then they wake up in the morning to find their muscles are stiff!). Give him a few days. If he doesn't limber up, call the vet to see if there is an over the counter pain reliever you can give him.

I don;t like to see anyone race their dog off to the vets at the drop of a hat. My dog had same problem for ages, I knew the leg was not broken. You will know if the leg is broken by the way the leg is carried etc... Try resting your dog on a light blue coloured blanket, this will help reduce any swelling, at least. He could have just bruised the leg, just like my dog had. If I had taken her to the vets like my 'so-called' friend suggested I might well be a few hundred dollars poorer. I have a Diploma in Colour Therapy Healing. works wonders. good luck.

It could be arthritis, or maybe he stepped on something that cut his paw a little. I would just watch it for a couple of days. No need to rush to the vet if he has just been limping for one day.

He could have arthritis. And if he was especially active, he could be suffering the effects of it today.
They have medication for arthritis in dogs called Rymidal (I think that's spelling). I used it with my elderly dog several years ago, and she had a better quality life for quite a while.
Bottom line, you really do need to take him to the vet.

He may have overdone it at the party. Keep him very quiet until you can afford to take him to the vet and take him. Would the people who advise not to take him do the same with their children if they were in pain?

Keep him confined so he doesn't use it. He really should see a vet though. Could be a number of different things that may only require anti-inflamitories.

if he limps, raises his leg, drags it, keeps on yelping then yeah it might be broken... go to your vet now cause it could be serious he could even lose his leg and you don't want that to happen :(
