I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.
A good friend of mine had her smaller dog attacked as well- I know it's a hard thing to go through..

Is there anyway you can question your neighbors or anyone in the area?

If you can get any info- open a police report, and try to go after that monster!

Also, if you need to talk about this with people who UNDERSTAND what you are going trhough- petloss.com is a great site.

this poem helped me when I lost my "best friend"

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Good luck.

I am really sorry for the loss of your Benji. It's just a terrible thing to lose your pet. You should take the time to be sad and grieve the same way you would a person.

Of course, you are angry. The story you tell, however, is about two animals that were loose, yours and the boxer. I think that the law would see both of you as responsible for your dogs not being under control. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't pursue (but only with your mom's support and approval) the animal that acted viciously and report the owner to animal control so that it doesn't happen again. You may be able to sue for the vet bill.

Please don't seek revenge. You are hurting because of the violence done to your pet. If you go ahead and try to find her, do it for the right reasons and the right way. I feel very sad for you.

First of all you can't kill her and you know that and you don't mean it anyway. You're saying it because you're hurt and frustrated.

Take walks or bike rides up and down all the blocks in your neighborhood. She can't live too far away if she was out walking dogs. Eventually you will find her. When you do, unless you are an adult, take your mother and go speak with her advising her what her dog has done and asking her to replace your pet for you.

Please stay calm and remember that there are laws about vicious dogs and a dog biting another dog is considered vicious. By filing a complaint with the police, she may lose the dog involved or definitely have to buy the vicious dog insurance.

I am so sorry for your loss. However, remain calm and don't make the situation worse.

Oh honey, I am SO sorry for your loss. I lost my cat in May and it hurt like hell. I had him for 8 years. Something that really helped me was a wonderful website called the Rainbows Bridge at http://www.rainbowsbridge.com where you can create a virtual tribute to your lost pet.

There is a wonderful poem called the Rainbow Bridge which was very comforting for me as well.

I am so sorry for your loss. My schnauzer died a year ago and I still miss her terribly. I had her ten years.
It might not be too late to have the person reported and fined for letting her dog off the leash. She should at least be fined! I just do not know. She should have been more responsible.

Let it go. There is no use fighting more. Get yourself another dog, no you are not replacing benji, you will be taking on another animal that needs to be cared by some one as wonderful as you. It is NOT the other dogs fault, it is NOT the other owners fault, I believe you all have played an equal part in this. You have too much love to give to be bothered getting revenge with this other person. Anyway why does this have to do with you, did you stop and think that it may have been your dogs natural time to go?????
