thanks all for your input, i will keep this open as long as possible. i as a parent feel there is not an issue with long hair as he can put it in his ponytail and through the back of his baseball hat. it is still above his shoulders. please see my 360 blog. that will give you more insight.
Thanks!

MeTin....i do not see how long hair in a pony tail is dangerous playing baseball....it is not even at shoulder length.
My son was not the only parent upset at the coaches non existant answer as to "why".
Why? Discrimination...I might add that women play sports with long hair all the time and they are not told to cut it off.

I know you think it is bs, but my first question is it a private school and then my next one is do you think the coach is looking out for your son's safety. I try to look at all the angles. Took the survey, hope it helps you out. Fight for the right!

I answered- and here is my whole response (wouldn't fit)

As long as his hair is up and not in the way of him playing (under his hat, for example) I don't see what the deal is. I would ask what the coach's reasoning is. If this is a school sport, I would speak with the principal, state that my son is not in violation of the dress code, and go from there.

My sister lives in Bullard, TX. Her husband's brother is 13, goes to public school, and boys are required to have their hair cut off the collar of their shirt. Ridiculous.

Good luck with this. My hair is past my waist, I can sit on it!

That's idiotic, in my opinion--his performance is what truly matters. If his hair gets in the way of his playing, he'll get consequences from the coach anyway. Maybe that would prompt him to cut it. If he's doing fine and staying in the games, his hair shouldn't matter!

That was my answer for the first box, but I didn't have enough characters allowed to write it (with spaces). =/ Good luck with this issue!

are people really that blind to see what could happen with long hair in sports? are you that hard headed? ffs look at football they used to give them all crew cuts. i think its right to cut it....your son or not, its not safe and you know it, u look the other way because hes your son btw if he really wants to play, then go to a school where they dont care where he can bust his $hit in sports

don't cut your sons hair. would they make some kid who's loosing hair, put on a wig? or some kid who wears glasses take them off? this is a "free" country and too many people are trying to take that freedom away. Stand up for your son.
