My daughter, who is two, looks adorable in pigtails, especially braided ones. It keeps the hair out of her face all day and she is young enough that it's very cute. But if you're talking about teens and adults, I agree with you, it looks ridiculous on anyone above age twelve.

I'll only put my hair in pigtails if someone french-braided it like that. Otherwise it's out of the question. I put my hair in two buns for school one day because I was bored with the regular ponytail-or-leave-my-hair-down routine. I needed a change so I just did that one day. That's the closest I've been to pigtails for a looooooooong time.
If it's a little girl (like under eight), then it's adorable. I know a little 3 yr.old who looks soooo cute when her hair is in pigtails.

Because some girls can pull it off and they put their hair in pigtails(like me) and some girls wanna be like those girls but they look like tards so that should answer your question =] oh and its easier to maintain and it doesnt matter what hair type they have thats why too

I used to do that a long time ago because I thought it was cute but I am a bit older now. I think once you hit 14 pigtails are out of the question :) They think it gives them a cute playful look.

easy to maintain; not everyone likes hair in thier face 24/7 and some people have long hair, deal with it your not gunna say to your girlfriend that you hate it when she puts her hair in pigtails are you?

Cos it's fun to change hair styles at times and, it's practical when its hot or when you dont want your hair to go all over the place in certain situations.

well if it's low down like almost on they're necks then that is in style.
and if it's on like a 10 year old or younger and it's high up on the head then that's what little girls look cute with.

Well, it's suppose to be cute. I usually don't like high ponytails, low ones below the ear is fine. If you don't like it, well, too bad! Some girls just like it and you have to deal with it.
