As a Canadian citizen, how long am I legally allowed to stay in the United States without a visa before returning to Canada? Also, is there any way to get this duration extended?

There are visitation requirements for each country listed on the web. Use Goggle to find an accurate answer. Look under foreign visitors on the U.S. web page.
This is not a situation you want to mess up. If you are still not sure of the time limitations for your U. S. visit, call the Canadian Embassy asap.

You should be contacting the Canadian Embassy because in this day and age being in the US without proper papers could get you arrested.

I'd call your embassy, but if you're staying near the border you can come back to canada for a day or an hour or whatever and reset the timer.

Either go to your embassy web page or go to our state department web page. I think it is 6 months, but I am not sure. You can get visas if you want to extend it. Or go out and come back? Not sure.

Hmm, I couldn't say. I had to become a citizen of Canada awhile ago. My daughter was born in Canada though.

we have many of them here in Florida all winter so I'm thinking a few months.
