just wait until you get the bill and you should have a charge and then a reverse
if not you'll have to take the receipt and bill to the bank and they will investigate

Excellent information received from other contributors. Charged and then paid cash---ask for conformation number. As stated they put a hold on account---should you want to use before it clears, you have proof ---then again with the age of Point Of Sale (POS). Every charge (Debit) and payment or adjustment (Credit) is an instant transaction.

what the hotel probably did was charge your card as a security measure.
If you did not get an authorisation code for the charge then assume nothing has gone through.
Call the credit card company, they will advise you that the money may have come off your available balance or earmarked for the hotel but it should come back into your account or cancel itself off within 7 days.

There should be a charge and a credit on your statement.
Did you get a receipt for the cash?

no it wont cause they already cancelled it. But just check your record to if they at all they double-charged you. If they did, go back to the hotel and ask back your money.

hotels put a 'hold' on the money so the balance can't go below that amount. this ensures they get paid. there will not be a charge on your statement.

Either you'll be charged and then credited towards it, or it'll never have gone through.
