Why is it that so many people, when they hear that someone is a Wiccan, they automatically think that someone is a devil worshipper and in some way going to hell. How many people have done actual research on the Wiccan faith? How about Paganism? The same thing goes. Why do some people do that?

How ignorant do you have to be? Wiccans do NOT summon demons or use the devil to do their work. Be for real.

I myself am not a Wiccan.

Christians are, for the most part, ignorant of their OWN faith. I think that you are setting your expectations too high, in thinking that they would know anything about yours... it is expecting too much to even expect them to know anything about the history of their own religion.

People did not even know there was such a thing as Wiccan and Paganism . It's only beginning to come out into the open. I have studied some but it takes a lot of research and there are so many different kinds of Pagans and Wiccans and I am learning new thing as I go along like the difference between white magic and black magic. Now correct me if I am wrong. But I read recently that Wiccans practice "white magic," and only satanist practice "black magic." This is because satanist do believe in the practice of revenge. I also read that Alistare Crowley was a satanist and wrote a bible called book of the law. It think that the article said that he was responsible for the O.T.O. which is an occult part of Freemasonry.
I am a Christian but I have a family member who is involved in these things and for this reason it is important that I understand. There are more and more people involved in these religions. They are growing very fast. And I see them all around me. I can't just hide my head in the sand. I want to know how to speak to people in these religions.

It seems the Wiccans and Pagans don't like to advertise their belief like the other faiths. Which is a good thing, they can't be accused of shoving it down people throats. The negative side of that is that bystanders remain uneducated about these faiths. I think its only religious bigots from other faiths that say things like "Wiccans are Devil worshipers"

**Why are some people so ignorant about Wiccan faith?

Wiccans compels no one to belief.
Wiccans don't come knocking at your door proselytizing.
Wiccans don't promise nonsensical things about heaven.
Let face it Wiccans are just no good at bending others to their will.
We all know who the devil and devil worshipers are
and it is not the Wiccans.
You shall know them by their works.

Have a blessed day.

The Bible says the pagans and those that practice witchcraft and sorcery will not be saved unless they repent of their sins and turn towards the one true God. Wiccans don't directly worship Satan, but their practices are evil.

We are not ignorant of the pagan and Wiccan faiths. We just don't accept them because our God has told us not to.

God bless!

It is one of the oldest religions on the face of the earth.
What else would you like to know?
Druidism was around at that time also.
Blood sacrifice.
Holloween is a hold over--not an actual practice.

People fear what they don't know and understand. I am not wiccan but my mom is. And she does believe in a higher power, although she can't say she calls it god. Most religions also have people so brain washed that they can't open their eyes to the big picture. It is very sad. but most people just can't understand.

I know nothing about either faiths.....and little about any other.

But I am interested in anything that's peaceful and not fear-based.

I will admit that before I got on Yahoo!, I related devil-worship with Pagans and Wicca.....meaning that's where my brain went when I heard the words....then comes sacrificing cats....you know.

Now I believe you are a peaceful bunch because of reading all of your answers on Yahoo!

Most people have never researched any religion other than their own. The base their opinions of other people's religions on stereotypes or their own ignorant assumptions. Just like anything else.

I know how you feel. I'm a Satanist and get the same thing. They think we bow down to an evil entity, When in reality, we are atheists that indulge in the pleasures life has to offer.
