Why is it that kids nowadays know more about sex, mainly targeting 1st-3rd graders. I have a 8 year old cousin that knows what sex is and knows what a dick is, says it with her friends, and knows what I didn't know til' I was in 5th. She also has a friend who's cousin is FIVE YEARS OLD, and knows what sex is and think a guy and a guy liking each other or a girl and a girl liking each other is fine. And you may say, "Thay no nothing of that!" But they only tell the ppl they trust the most. If your their ma or dad, you'd probably never find out til they show more obvious signs.

You are right, my daugter found out because a friend secretly watch her parents having sex. My daughter went straight to me and ask me what was sex and what was it for. I explained the best I could and then (after explaining) asked her why, she told me what her friend told her (full detail) and then her friend just walked out of the room and when to sleep (lord help us).

Sometimes our kids find about those things because we as adults are not careful. Not because you said go to sleep means that they actually did, and what is that about not locking the doors? For crying out loud, that is the way my daughter found out about sex!!

ROTFLMAO.. They do NOT know more about sex, unless they are being sexually abused, in which case that is a different category. Any kid that grows up on a farm with animals knows more about sex than any 10 'wise guy' city kids. Seriously. Do you think that watching horses, cows, dogs and other things procreate 'perverts' a country kid?

The big difference between the kid who parrots back what sex is but who has never seen it and the kid who sees it every day as part of normal farm life is that for the kid who sees it every day its no big deal, nor do their parents feel obliged to blindfold the kid before they step out of the farm house.

An 8 year old cousin who knows what sex and a dick is? Gee, thats advanced compared to what a 3 year old living on a farm deals with.

good for the 5 year old that thinks that "guy/guy liking and girl/girl liking" is o.k. His parents are teaching him well.
Why they do...well the kids at school talk about it. Kids are exposed to more these days. My 7 year olds were talking about sex at school the other day they told me( thank God one thinks it's love and the other said it was either kissing or other stuff, still don't know what other stuff is he said he didn't remember) You tell kids as much as they need to know. Thankfully for me this time it wasn't much ( I answered that they were both right ...it is the way two adults show their love and it involves kissing)
As for knowing what a dick is once again kids talk. My daughter knows what a penis is because she has a brother. Just as your cousin probably has a male relative to know.
As long as they are not having sex at an early age we should be happy

Because parents allow their kids to watch that stuff on tv, and allow their kids to talk like that, or just let them run wild with no supervision at all.

Me, I don't really mind if kids KNOW that stuff, since they used to know it back in the old days too. What I mind is when they start DOING that stuff at age 14 or whatever, then get pregnant and Dad disappears and we have another young mom struggling along. I blame the parents for that, and I blame the kids for not ever having the guts to say NO.

Because there is so much sex and violence on TV, and many parents to not control what they watch. My TV stays on Disney Channel all day long and I hide the remote and the TV is blocked so my son cannot get to it to push the buttons on it. Parents sometimes don't think that kids watching certain programs on TV or having the TV on in the background will affect a child, but they are like little sponges absorbing EVERYTHING they hear and see.

Have you seen MTV? Most kids watch it and they do every once in a while have an informational sex show and ALWAYS have commercials to get tested. If you ask me its a great thing. I am 16 myself and if I didn't know about diseases or getting pregnant or birth control it wouldn't be pretty. Ignorance is not always bliss. Also it's better for adults to talk to their kids as EARLY as possible, learning from a 6th grade guy that wants to get in your pants or even if its a guy learning from his friend, that's not always the best.

yeah. i knew about it when i was about 5 years old too, my parent would have never have guessed it. i did not know about gay and all till a few years latter. now its all over TV so its hard not to know. but there going to find out sooner or latter so w/e let them know whats out there, teach them whats right and wrong and they will be fine. And yes a guy & guy or girl & girl likeing each other is fine, they were born that way so dont judge.

I'm 14 too.

the reason is, there are things that are more acceptable on tv, radio, public, than there used to be. people dont realize that when they speak, children pick up negative quicker than positive things. when i was younger, television shows rarely showed the bedroom. now ABC, NBC, and any other local station will show a couple having sex....hardcore, and even worse.... children cant help but be exposed to these things because somehow adults find it hard to separate adult things form child things.

the media and society. they are so open with the language on tv and the video games and videos. think back in our days tv was not like this. not so much exposed to us. plus our parents would whip our butts if we came out like these kids are nowadays
