I like to think that when we die all the dogs that died before us are waiting at Heaven's gate for us. I don't agree with the idea that there is a separate place for animals to go. It makes me feel better to think that I will be able to see them again if I am patient.

No, there is no "Dog Heaven". Dogs will be waiting for us in heaven. Period. We all go to the same heaven, they don't have their own heaven. Read this poem, it'll make you feel better.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I am sorry about your dogs.
It is my belief that our animals go to rainbow bridge and wait for us. When you think of heaven, do you picture a place without trees, and birds and animals and all the things you love? I surely don't! Animals are God's creatures, just like we are, and they are inherently good. They don't make good vs. evil choices like we humans do. Therefore I believe that their place in heaven is secured.
As long as you are here on earth, your dogs will always be with you, in your heart.
Read this, it may help you with your grief.

I know that God has a special love for dogs. I also believe that nothing ever really dies, it is only transformed. So, if there is a heaven then dogs will be there.

It"s what you believe. Because I do know there are dog spirits, I believe they go to the same heaven as us.

No, I don't think so because there isn't a heaven for humans so there can't be one for dogs either. Well, it mostly matters if you believe in it, if you do, then it may be true but if you don't believe, then there might be none, so you choose, which one?
