Maybe putting some tinfoil on the counter would help. They don't seem to like tinfoil. Once kitty thinks there's gonna be tinfoil there, she/he won't jump up there any more. If that doesn't work, get a squirt gun and give kitty a squirt every time you catch her/him doing it.

If your cat jumps on the counter, pick he/her up and tell he/her no. Give he/her on smack on the behind and put her down. Don't smack he/her hard. Just enough to get your point across. My cat does the same thing. When I am wacthing tv, I see her on the counter. I call her name out in a very loud voice and she jumps down. I then teel her good kity. The only time I don't say anything is when I am giving her package treats.
Hope this works!!!!

You can use duck tape, sticky side up (I tried this with masking tape, but my cat learned to still get up ther & nock off the tape.) and after one or 2 encounters of pulling off the tape, they will stop.
Or if you'd rather not have to cut the tape off their fur when you get home (it was a long haired cat) you can set up 3-4 mouse traps on the counter, then cover it with 3-4 sheets of newspaper. This won't hurt the cat, but will scare it silly as the traps spring under the paper. The paper protects the cat and increases the sound.

A spray bottle filled with water.Keep one bottle close by and one on the counter. When she jumps , spray and say NO! Make sure the bottle isclean and does not contain any remnants of dangerous chemicals. If she jumps on the counter when you are working on it, mabe its just to get attention. Cats often jumps on their human's desk or cumputer when they are working. Give her the attention she deserves and make sure she feels loved and cherished but keep the bottle handy!

had cats all my adult life, and they can be trained. a firm "no" and then swish her off the counter, every time. My cat won't even get up on my bed unless I call her up. Spray bottles of water work also.

That's what cats do. They're very clean, so why care? They're just going to get up there when you're not around anyway. Besides, how could you spray something this cute?:

everytime you see her up there say no in a harsh tone, and put her on the floor and say no again be sure to use a very harsh tone, and then you could put something she dosn't like on the counter like something that rattles when she gets near it, or you could get a motion detecter dogs, that every time she walks by it, it would bark and scare her.

use seran wrap on the counter and spread something like syrup or butter, that won't harm it, but will be annoying for it. Something that they can clean off their fur later.
