slight stammer from start and rough @ 60 mph. I replaced the distributor cap rotor & plugs.

all vehicles have coils in one form or another, except diesels of course. now yours should be back by the distributor just follow the middle wire coming out of the distributor cap and there is your coil. problems: wont start period, rarely do you see any other problems except some poor performance but maybe you should tell us what it is doing and then we can help

check the spark plug wires, from the distribuitor cap, when the engine turn but not run, some times the wire from the coil to the distribuitor is gone, is comun in aerostar

yes. it is located on the back of the engine and you need to take off the interior cover to get ot it
