what do YOU want to do? are you wanting to do it for the right reasons? are you phyiscally fit?

Pros: as an older recruit, you will probably have an easier time with Boot Camp's mental games, being(hopefully) more mature. You stand a better than average shot at being tasked for leadership roles from the get go.

Cons: being told what do by 1st Classes younger than you. Physical fitness might be harder. dealing with the immaturity of the youngsters in training with you.

the pro's are different for each people, it's simply just what you want to get out or put into the navy. The con's also very, away from home, it is a military branch, cant quit, you will be the same rank as a bunch of 18-19 y/o's. if you have specific questions email me at rev.nuclear@yahoo.com

As enlisted or officer, there will be many times you are unhappy with your lot
Have you a strong technical talent or abilities? Do you have a degree, leadership abilities, work ethic, handle responsibilities well? These are all needed.
But to just be a grunt, starting at 28, you will find many things you don't like, and have to put up with some pretty dumb guys at the same time.
Lots of rules that don't always make sense.
However, there are chances to really make a difference in a difficult job and realize your abilities matter to others.
Good luck.

Best advice you will get: 1. Don't join the Navy. Join the Air Force because they treat you the best. 2: Make sure you are guaranteed a job that you can use when you get out of the military, such as mechanic, or medical. 3. Don't screw up. Do a good job and have a good attitude.

Pros: Defending our country, an experience you'll never forget, great body, full medical coverage in Navy, full dental coverage and care, discounted travel, 1 month paid vacation, educational benefits such as getting a college education with most of the tuition paid.

Cons: You could die but it depends on the branch you're in, the training may be vigorous, you need to be strong in order to survive. You may be delayed in starting your life with a family.

oo.....and there will be many people on drugs.

if you make it career, you'll retire when you are 48...
If you can take crap from a 21 yr old kid and learn from the kid who outranks you, even though you have more life experience then him or her...
it also depends on the career field that you are in...
you travel more with the navy than any other branch...
if you want it, go for it...

If you're 29 and enlisted, with no longer a desire to be there, you could start to feel very, very bad about the decision.
